Just a friendly question for creationists - what do you think of all the new Neanderthal data that has been coming out in the last couple years? Do you think this was another species of human beings? If so, then why where two (at least) types of humans created? And, of course, why did all but one go exitinct?

That's a great question, esp. since creationists have tried to co-opt evolution to an extent, by saying "Oh, God just took longer than the Bible says" and other claptrap.
I'm not a creationist, but am more interested in the new info on Neanderthals (I majored in Anthropology). Can you add some details to the question and give links to articles? I'd really like to read them! I'm rather behind the times regarding new discoveries, and the Discover Channel's programs about it are SO questionable! I've got to read more!(I'm serious).
***********
Thanks---for the links! Can you believe some of the whacko ideas people have? You'd think it hadn't been 150 yrs. since Neanderthal was first found!

It helps evolution. Neanderthals had substantial transformations from us.. We existed on an identical time as them, in reality. to respond to yet another poster, the transitory species are extinct. it particularly is why they are actually not around. yet we hit upon evidence of their existence(fossils and skeletons). youthful earth creationists are an exceedingly humorous team. we've evidence of civilization this is from a time this is supposedly in the previous the earth grew to become into even "created". Evolution is the be conscious. Creationism = rubbish the indisputable fact that this is debated in the 12 months 2010 makes me lose wish for humanity. Arguing for creationism is like arguing that the international is flat.

True scientific study has shown that humans all have the same dna link.
This dna test of the Neanderthals will probably prove to not be human. Unless that was the mark of Cain. I doubt that.
It is written that the Sons of God came down & took women and the offspring were mighty men / supermen. These fallen angels left their place & disobeyed God, led by that old deceiving dragon. I don't quite know what they looked like, but it was one of the reason all God's creation was evil. God said that everything was corrupted and he was going to destroy all breathing... Noah found grace in God's eyes. So God flooded the earth. Some people think this is where the demons came from.

To the best of my knowledge, no Neanderthals were backers of Creation Science.

They were resurrected for insurance commercials on TV.
I question most findings, just by looking at the find. A 'skeleton' can be made up from 15 bones/fragments found, within a mile radius. So, we have a skull with a pronounced ridge on it. the ribs fragments and a few vertebrae, plus the knee joint found 1.5 miles away, 100 feet deeper. Make it your grandfather's poppa....I will stick with ID

Creationist fundies will say one of these things:
1. They're just deformed human beings
2. They're deformed because they're descendants of cross-breeds between humanity and nephilim. They're extinct because it was God's will that the human bloodline not be polluted with cross-breed abominations.

Well, given that concept of man coming from Ape or Monkey, I find it more refreshing.
Adam could easily be considered a Neanderthal, he was a dolt who ate the apple, wasn't he!

What data?? Two new bones, a couple of fragments here and there? What!!! Where???? Obviously it was a living species, but of what origin? Do you know? No, of course not, and neither do ALL the scientists/evolutionists/etc. They create a whole being and an entire species based on bone fragments. That is about as laughable as it comes.

No contradiction. The bible states that animals were created before Man. Neanderthals were simply an animal that was created with all the rest.

The ability for humans to rationalize away what they don't want to believe is nearly infinite. Creationists have no use for facts.
