I have a story to add to that. I work at a butcher shop as a cashier, and one time I tried to explain to a woman that the meatballs are different prices because they are different sizes, for twenty minutes I wanted to pull my hair out. Then she order two carts full of meat, and put the on the belt one at a time. She then aruges that we are going to slow , and that we need to put all her stuff into plastic bags. Then I tell her credit card has been denied for the FOURTH time, and she has to put some thing back. She get into this major ryelling feast, and finally agrees, but she leaves all the stuff she did buy on the counter, and said "I refuse to put that stuff bag because that what they paid your lazy a**". I had to smile and say have a nice day ma'm because my boss was watching. She came in a 4:55 ( our store closes at 5), and did not leave until 5:30. I was pissed. To all those who read this we are not second class citizen, so pleases stop acting like it.
Another lady threw her money across the counter at me, and her money scattered everywhere, and told me that I should have reacted better to the situation. I threw the the change right back at her, and said "Have a nice day", and walked away

Oh man am I with you. Another cashier here and you can bet I understand. I work in an upscale retail establishment. I guess all that means is our customers have more dollars than sense. They act like because you are a cashier you have not got a brain. They have oodles of money and that makes them better than you. Get really sick of it especially when you announce closing time and it still takes them a half hour to come and check out. How about the ones who complain when you are closed on Thanksgiving or Christmas. What do you think about them? Oh well thanks for letting me rant a bit. Good luck

If that's a relentless problem, then your return coverage might desire to be published by the sign up, AND on the returned of the receipt. while became into the final time I ever looked on the returned of a receipt?? in no way, that's while. you will possibly desire to no longer be observed as a B, till that's, you acted like one after which you need to be blasted. while you're observed as this in many circumstances, then I only wager section or each and every of the fault falls on you. with the aid of fact, expensive, that may no longer commonplace, and exceedingly no longer genuine for the commonplace man or woman who visits a Christian shop. i think of there is much greater to this tale than we are listening to.

I personally dont feel better than the cashier but I am not being paid to stand and say hello I am spending my cash I earn from my job to spend in the store where a cashier has chosen to work...I am never rude, I say hi, I load my stuff on the conveyer belt and thats it I owe nothing else, I dont use coupons or checks, I use my debit card and i always say plastic(good for trees and I recycle the bags)...let me say about cashiers though...I have seen abnormally slow people take each item and inspect it thoroughly before scanning it and asking questions about the product or making comments or they cant figure out what the codes are for fresh produce.....all the while there is a line of 7 people in front of me with full carts, my haagen daz(6 months pregnant :) ) is melting and my meats are becoming more than the safe keeping temperature, my 4 year old has to pee, and we are red faced from the heat being on 90 degrees inside the store. I have gone to the store on 7 different days and 3 different times and it is always the same deal. My pregnancy belly is sticking out like 18 inches and I have to lift very heavy items into the cart without assistance and another thing cashiers need to stop abusing my pears and tomatoes by just throwing them in the bags(they arent working fast they are just careless). I have had a cashier fired for being rude to an elderly man before right on the spot and again when another cashier was rude to my mother who asked for help to put something in the cart...the cashier said no. I shop at walmart supercenter usually but have been shopping elsewhere at times because of very slow cashiers. When I am spending 150$ a week on groceries/household things etc at the store you can bet the manager will be on my side..they pay about 50 cents for your services to me for the few minutes you spend on my groceries in comparison to my 150$ what you offer is very little, and you are expendable...because without clientel there is no job for you.

Because that is the way most humans think. Almost all humans will try to put the blame someone else when they are wrong or make a mistake. Though when someone else makes a mistake or misinterprets something they will always basically come down pretty hard on that individual. It's just human psychology, another wonderful trait of humans.

I will never forget the day that I had a customer screaming at me that my customer service skills were atrocious. This was all because I looked at him standing in front of one of my employees, whom I thought was helping him. I kept on going to the back to get something when he came screaming after me to get back here and help him. I apologized and was all ready to help him when he started tearing me a new one, and telling me he wanted to talk to the manager. When I told him I was the manager, he flipped out even more and told me that I was a liar. At that point I told him that he was free to leave and if he wanted I could get security to escort him.
I started looking for a new job that night. A person can only take so much abuse.

i worked as a cashier for years....
as a cashier you truly do see the worst of humanity...
i remember an old man SCREAMING at me because his candy rung up one CENT more than it should have (as if i had anything to do with pricing), why would you yell at some-one for a penny?....i'd see people swiping things out of each others carts and arguing at sale times...
the years i worked as a cashier i truly began to hate people...customers were not only rude to cashiers but treated them like lesser people...
getting out of the retail business was one of the best decisions i've ever made...and i don't plan to ever go back

I'm right with ya buddy! I used to be a former cashier at McDonald's and they treated you like sh!t. Same @ Wal-Mart. People are so rude and ungrateful, you just want to treat them like crap back. I'm ALWAYS nice to a cashier, regardless of them being nice or not. I've been in their shoes before.

I am a shopper, I don't think like this....in fact here where i live cashiers are so rude sometime that they don't even say greetings to me and i start saying..hello Hope are you etc etc. ....anyway its not shopper or cashier it depends on person to person and their nature after all cashier is also a shopper sometime.
