I have my rottie on an unfenced poultry farm. Its either a chain (in this case 30') or I would have to build an enclosure for him. He gets a long walk and swim in the mornings. I am not mean to him !!!

i have owned several Rotties in my experince (noy telling you how to raise you dog) do not chain up you dog ecpecially a large breed dog this will only make them mean they need room to run & be able to do the job they were raised for protecting their home. if you chain the dog to the kennel as dog will associate being chained as punishment so the dog will not use the kennel. if you do not have a fenced yard i would recommend bringing the dog inside even though it is a large dog they are still very family oriented when raised right. try not to chain the dog to the kennel & yopu may want to try cedar shavings this also helps with fleas

Well, one thing I dislike is the fact that he's chained up outside. But, oh well. It might be too small for him. A rotweiler gets pretty big, and if it's just a small kennel, he probably feels uncomfortable sitting inside of it. Also, if the chain long enough for him to walk around?

I suggest getting a runner instead of having him chained up. Put it at a length between two far away trees, that's how Max (our K-9 police dog) gets his exercise. Leave his kennel out there if you want, but he probably needs more exercise.

Someone is probably going to report your dog being chained as it is a form of animal abuse.

Dogs are pack animals, and need to be around people and feel safe in a shared shelter.

I hope you take our advice and start respecting your dog.

Um. Bring your dog inside. Keeping your dog outdoors can cause severe psychological problems, as dogs are pack animals and want to be part of a pack.
