I'm not going to suggest a blue rinse as you call it, but I have personally seen matrix essentials "so silver" shampoo (see here: http://www.matrix.com/products/matrix_essentials/sosilver_shampoo.aspx ) do wonders! This is not an "old lady" shampoo, I use it on my young clients just as much! It works great for people with highlights too.

Also, a great thing to try is a salon procedure using the product "prisms" or the similar redken product "crystal clear". This product goes on just like color, but it has no pigment. It will add only shine, conditioning, and manageability to your hair. People will be telling you your hair looks great, but they won't quite be able to put their finger on what is different. It's a great subtle change that will leave your hair feeling rejuvenated!

I hope you try one or both of these suggestions, and good luck!

Get a cute hairstyle, like a pixie cut or something short and choppy that you can comb forwards, backwards or sideways and it still looks great. Use a pommade to style, rather than a gel or spray, so it doesn't look cemented.
There are lots of product out there to highlight grey hair and make it all sparkly.

put some blonde into it, or maybe just a few highlights then you are not changing the colour to something drastic like black. there are special dyes for grey hair, that are more gentle

When i was a punk rocker (Ahh, the 70's, where DID they go?) I always fancied black hair with silver streaks. Perhaps you could apply the antithesis.
