I was in the same boat as you 3 years ago, and I went to www.ancestryboards.com and went to my surname and made a topic about him in the forum and they people there helped me. Eventually a great cousin of my saw my posts and I got in contact with him.

Hey Alicia,

First place to look is your LONG Form Birth Certificate. It's possible that your father is not on the birth certificate, and that, will make finding him very difficult.

Also, your mother or grandmother might know if you are able to talk to them, or perhaps a brother/sister.

If you don't have a birth certificate currently, get one. You can get one via the Vital records site below, or contact your city/town hall for the Records department.

If your parents were married, His full name would be on the marriage certificate. Not there, then, depending on how common the name is, try the people finder sites.

If you think he may have passed away, try Family Search below and search for the last name.

If you are over 18, you can do what I did
go to the Social Security Office
see if he is still alive
write a letter to him and have them forward it, they will not tell you where he is but they will send the letter on and then its up to him.

Do you know the last place where he worked? If you can get a soc. sec. number, you can find him.

well depending on how public you want it, you can always call a television talk show that will find him for free as long as they can air your reunion on their show. the maury show is a good one that i have seen them do that.
