Cautious. I would feel the need to learn more about the Bible "study". Too often such "study" is an indoctrination session with carefully selected passages, a strictly managed curriculum and little opportunity for meaningful discussion. I don't mind having selections pre-chosen but if only pre-anticipated questions and pre-packaged answers are allowed, I won't last long. I prefer a free-wheeling, multi-dimensional discussion of the whole reading: text, context, intent, cultural background, comparisons to similar passages, theological issues, application to real life, but not a spoon-fed "explanation".
Alternately, I could go for a slow prayerful, line-by-line, spontaneous hear-and-respond session. Such "shared prayer" provides an unrehearsed spritual opportunity that can shake loose some surprising insights.

It depends...if it is my friend I would feel just fine and probably want to go. But if a stranger invites me I will feel uncomfortable and try to turn down the invitation politely.
Basically the same as I would feel about anything else. I mean, if a total stranger walked up to you on the sidewalk and said "would you like to go to the gym with me" wouldn't it be a little weird?
Bible study takes a commitment because they usually meet once a week for several weeks. It's not the same as asking someone to join you for a cup of coffee.

I would love to participate in a bible study group. . . .but not based on the premise that every word in the bible is the word of God, while ignoring the fact that:
1. It was first passed from ear to mouth over a long time, thus being subject to interpretation by each person
2. It was put on paper by MEN. No women involved!
3. It was translated so many times that each interpretation, each translation was also subject to interpretation.
4. It is only a guideline, at best it was given to men of very little understanding, when humankind was at the stage of infancy intellectually, and when science was pratically non existent. Thus the interpretations were also influenced by the ignorance of the time.
5. Today, humankind (notice that women have joined Mankind) has involved to the stage of let's say young teenage years (debateble!!!!).
Could we just discuss the bible in term of increased knowledge?

I have no feeling whatsoever about someone *wanting* to invite me, only about actually being invited.
My reaction to that depends entirely on how it is offered, and under what circumstances.
At a previous job, I was in the Customer Service area of a retail store and as such I mostly dealt with people who were unhappy about something - a gift, their purchase, etc. In that position, I chose, each and every day, to act from a desire to make things right for them on behalf of the store.
I had someone invite me to their church or to bible study around once a month - it seemed to me that the people inviting me were doing so because they felt that I had a loving spirit, and they wanted to share this thing, the best thing in their lives, with me.
To those people, I replied with gentleness and friendliness, "Thank you, I'm flattered, but I'm very active in my own religious community".
At other times, people have "offered" in such impolite ways that I've been quite offended. As an example, this "invitation", from someone who was listening to a conversation about Paganism between myself and another: "You need to get to bible study so you can see the error of your ways and not spend eternity burning in hell."

King James, New King James, English known, New American known, Revised known, American known, youthful's Literal Translation, Webster's Bible and the hot international Translation of the Holy Scriptures are the Bible's i exploit virtually on a daily basis. as quickly as I answer questions I examine in scriptures that the single asking could be asking approximately, then I tutor how their Bible and the NWT are an identical and the place they do variety i pass to the LXX Bible cannon. I purely carry the King James alongside with me in the door to door paintings as this is the main known Bible and a great form of cases I actual have shown distinctive ones from there own Bible what the reality is. All you skeptics do no longer comprehend that the Bible is God's be conscious and no remember how guy tries to alter it they could't replace each little thing to extra healthful distinctly whilst there is extra suitable than one translation at our disposal. the main precise translation is the hot international Translation however the "reality" could nicely be contemporary in all translations of God's be conscious.

I would be happy for someone to invite me to a Bible Study if they were teaching the Word of God rightly divided.2 Timothy 2: 15 Study to shew thyself approved unto God, a workman that needeth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth. If they were teaching that the Lord Jesus Christ died for my sins and salvation was by what He did and not what I had to do. Faith is the only thing we have that is not a work. Ephesians 2: 8 For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God: Ephesians 2: 9 Not of works, lest any man should boast.

Wonderful although I would have to make sure they were not some bible thumper and truly wanted to here the word of GOD.
When I say bible thumper , I mean someone that knows the scriptures but does not here them and uses them for their own purpose.
