UV ink can also be used. I got a tattoo done with the UV ink and it doesn't stand out the way I would hope it would, but I still like it a lot...though later found out that it may not have been the best idea
There can be negative side effects as some people become allergic to the ink and have noticed the area is often irritated or red. Some people need to have it lasered off. Keep in mind things have changed over the years since the product was made and it is less likely to cause problems, but still might.
What you should do is find local artists and talk to them about what they know about the ink or if they are even willing to use it. Most of the time, tattoo shops do not have this ink on hand and they will not tattoo anyone with it as it is often in low demand due to the questionable nature of the product and the bad wrap it gets from people with bad experiences.

My tattooist will not ever tattoo a 'glow in the dark' tattoo. He won't buy the ink. If it is full of chemicals that glow in the dark or under the UV light just imagine the harm that it may do to your body. Just doesn't seem safe or smart! Just get a normal ink tattoo if you really want some ink done.

Darling, as far as I know, I've never heard of any glow-in-the-dark tattoo inks that are proven safe for use.
I am good friends with everyone at the tattoo shop where I have all of my work done, and I go to tattoo conventions with them several times a year.
I have never seen or heard anyone at any convention talking about using this ink.
However, if you have a shop near you that you go to, I would highly recommend asking them!
They are tattoo artists, and their job is to answer any tattoo questions you may have. Also, they may know of some other people who could help you out with this.
:)

Im not too sure about a glow in the dark tat. But my ex- boyfriend has a tattoo in white ink. When ever he goes to the club or any venue that has black light, his tattoo appears to be glowing in the dark.

Glow in the dark has NOT been approved by the FDA. I really dont know what the long term effects are...honestly, no one does. I have friends who have this and yes it is cool looking but quite expensive. You want to go to a tattoo shop where they have tatt'd this type of ink before. My girlfriend paid over $1,000.00 for this on her stomach but her tattoo was rather large. This type of ink will cost you much more than traditional ink.

Why would you want it to glow? If I ever get another tattoo anytime soon I want people to see it from a block away not have to wait till it is dark to see it or stand two inches away from me to even realize I have a tattoo. Besides what if you get a horrible infection from whatever it is that's making the ink glow.
