The best is downloading it from the origin, i.e. from Microsoft at http://www.microsoft.com/windows/ie/ie6/downloads/critical/ie6sp1/default.mspx.
But you can download it from other locations like http://www.updatexp.com/download-ie6.html or http://www.softwarepatch.com/internet/ie6.html
I can also recommend using Mozilla Firefox from http://www.mozilla.com/en-US. It is much better!!

I concur with those above me regarding where to download it. Best to download it from Microsoft; nowhere else.
Don't get IE 7 until Microsoft has worked the bugs out of it. Many people are having trouble with it and are switching back to IE 6.0.

You really should use Internet Explorer 7.0. I am an ex-Microsoft employee and IE 6 had lots of issues....it allowed too many "backdoors" and you constantly had to install security patches without being alerted to do so.
Go with the IE7. More user-friendly, more aesthetically pleasing and way more functional.

Go to microsoft website. If you install 7.0 uninstall it and you will be back to 6.0. XP comes with 6.0 by default
