Go to http://www.annualcreditreport.com

If you go to any other ones, you're going to get lumped into a subscription service. The link above is to the actual government sponsored program.

You can receive a free credit report whenever you are declined credit by a lender. Include the letter from the lender with your request to the credit bureau. The mailing address for the three major credit reporting agencies; Experian, Trans Union and Equifax can be found on our site. You can also receive a complimentary credit report from https://www.annualcreditreport.com/cra/index.jsp . I subscribe to a credit monitoring service, they offer a free credit report as well. I get an updated credit report whenever there is a change to my credit report. It makes identity theft much harder for the bad guys. It has saved me money as well on a home refinance. Check our site for free credit report tips:

You'd have to go in person to your local Retail Merchants Association and make sure you bring some ID. It's not a good idea to do this online because of the high risk of identity theft.

And yes you get put into a subscription service....But it only emails you to tell you when you can pull another credit report.

Or at least that is what I have noticed
