I have shoulder length hair with layer's in it. It's fairly straight but when it is done correctly it has lots of volume, but I have a hard time doing anything with it by myself. Can anybody give me some easy tips on what I can do with it to make it look fuller and maybe even a little wavy (think eva longoria). Thanks!

If you want your hair to look good, you need to spend time on it. That said, I do not recommend that your style your hair every day, but you can style it twice a week and the rest of the days, just do touch ups. I would use a curling iron if I were you. It does wonders in creating waves. The larger the barrel, the better your waves will look. Try Revlon/Helen of Troy ceramic curling irons.

You can use a volume shampoo but make sure you use a repairing lotion weekly. Volume shampoos takes the nutrients out of your hair creating a fuller look to your hair. My stylists says yuo can use volumizing shampoos as long as you use a deep conditioner once a week.

As for getting a wave I have slightly wavy hair but when I want a bit more what I do is put my hair into 2 low loose buns after I get out of the shower when the hair is just barely damp. Leave them on until you have to leave or even take them off before you get out of the car. Then spray with a little hair spray and pull some back hair back into a half up-do.

Whatever you do, don't braid it at night every night or put it up in anyway everynight to make it wavvy. Because if you do it continuously like that here's what'll happen: lots of hair will fall out!

I use the Sunsilk Anti-Flat Trio which includes conditioner, shampoo, and weightless root lifter. You HAVE to use the weightless root lifter or it won't work. I've tried it without it!

Wash with the shampoo, and conditioner (never put conditioner on roots, only ends of hair), then blow dry hair until it 50% dry.

Next rub 1 1/2 squirts of weightless creme in the palms of your hands. rub it into the roots of your hair.

Next, put your hands under your hair on the top of your head and pull your hands upward 2 times. Then blow dry your hair a little bit with your hair upside down. Then flip back to right-side up. Brush your hair up vertically while blowdrying (have the blow dryer follow the brush as you slowly brush upward.

This process for me, excluding the shower, takes 15-30 minutes, depending on how well I do it. It's not hard. If you have a high and a low setting, use high, it cuts the blowdrying time in half.

Hope I helped. Oh, and every hour or so, it posible, flip your head upside down and brush it with a brush or with your fingers.

For waves spiral curl your hair then brush the curls out and it will be wavvy. This process for me takes 15-20 minutes. The large the barrel the bigger the waves

A crimping iron would give you waves. For volume you could get a hot air curling brush, Brush up and roll in and hold. I don't know if they even make them anymore, if mine ever breaks I may be up a creek. But nice looking hair does take work. My stylist told me, you just have to get up a little earlier to get it done if you want it to look nice.

I have similar problem. My hair is one length to the shoulders. It is very straight. I've also found washing it the night before, then braiding it gives it body the next morning.

Try a curling iron with a large barrel. I usually use Citre shine serum first then blow dry to get it smooth, then use the curling iron and separate the curls a little bit so that it gives you more volume.

Try brainding you hair before you go to bed.(Smaller for smaller waves, larger for bigger waves)and put volumizing mousse over it.When you wake up the braids will have mad a crinkled-wavy look.

braid it in small braids before you go to bed and take them out and brush it in the morning (dont have wet hair when you go to bed) and your hair should be wavy. Seperate your bangs from the back hair, flip your bangs into the middle of your head and clip, good luck!
