I've recently started working out again--after 3 months--and have noticed that my blood pressure is up and my heart is beating faster than it had before. (Even when I've worked out previously it never beat this fast!) Can anyone come up with any logical reasons why? By the way, I have been working out harder than I had in the past. Perhaps this is why?

a normal pulse rate is 60-100. You may need a physical if your HR and BP are up and has never done this before. You may just be out of shape or pushing yourself more, but it may be something more serious like heart rhythm prob or defects, anemia, etc.

Healthy adult resting HR is 72 beats per min. The lower your resting heart rate is, the better (generally). If your resting heart rate has gone up since you've been exercising, you need to consult a dr. That's really unusually and indicates something might be really wrong.

the average adult has a resting pulse of around 70. if you are working out harder now, than your body will take some time to get used to the extra work, then your resting heart rate will be lower, and your heart and lungs won't have to work so hard when you are working out.

Your system is just regenerating, not to worry! 80 is a good pulse. Don't freak out. Try some meditation after your workout, it will slow you down.
