Hi There,

You will thoroughly enjoy your trip! There is so much to see and do and so many great people on the road doing the same thing.

If you visit your local motoring association such as NRMA you will be able to obtain a copy of a camping and caravanning guide to Australia. It is an invaluable book with loads of extra information.

Here are some of the No Cost sites we have stayed in during our fairly regular trips in the last couple of years.

Mitchell Qld, just out of town there is a sign directing you to a dam, not knowing any better we had planned to camp by the dam but along that road we found a very good camping ground with bathroom facilities and laundry tubs as well and a good bit of grass there too. It seems fairly well maintained.

On the Barkly Highway in NT on the left hand side of the road there is a large area where campers and caravanners often set up along the way. This is just a few miles short of the Threeways. when travelling west from Mt Isa.

Duaringa Qld (About 100 kms west of Rockhampton) has a nice camping spot right on the highway that is free It has bathroom facilities and laundry tubs.

About 60kms East of Carnarvon WA is a sign directing you to a Rock Pool and you can camp there for free though there are no facilities available.

I hope these suggestions help you along the way.
