Success is a state of mind Azra. If you look at all the answers to your question you'll find that everyone has a different opinion, you can't nail it down to one or the other.
I don't believe there is "a" formula for success. I believe that there are as many different ways to achieve this state as there are minds here on earth.
I hope this helps you Azra.

If I learn something new every day, I have succeeded.
If I have done something new with what I have learned at least once a week, I have succeeded.
If I have lived each month without a new regret, I have succeeded.
If I have lived each year and become skilled at something new, I have succeeded.
If I die and my name is forgotten for all times, no one ever remembers my name or face, never knows what I have accomplished, and yet my ideas live on, I have succeeded.
If even one person remembers me within a generation of my death, or my name is why my ideas are remembered, then my whole life has been a waste.

To know I did something right, that I was loved, that I loved in return, at the end of my life, I will be successful.

To me success means living a meaningful and righteous life. So I can set a good example for my kids to follow. I pray everyday for the Lord to lead me on this journey.
