...it's your body's way of telling you it needs something that food provides?

For example, if all of a sudden you crave eggs. Do you think (or is it fact) that it's your body telling you it needs the protein or fat the eggs provide?

The reason I ask is because all of a sudden, I've been craving hardboiled eggs and I'm curious to know if it's my body that is trying to tell me something.

Thanks!

You don't think the crack is tricking the mind in THINKING that's what the body needs? I'm sure that's the truth with alot of addictions though, a certain thing in your mind to control what the body thinks it needs.

It is your bodies way of telling you that some vitamin, protein, or other is lacking. This is not the same as an addicts craving, but both are reactions caused by neural stimuli. If your body is craving protein, I am guessing that you may have been on a bad diet. Look to the food pyramid, and take the time out of the day to balance along those lines, exercise, and keep your meals to about six a day (small ones). I try for the schedule of 6AM, 10AM, 12PM, 3PM, and 6PM. This schedule can be modified depending on sleep habits. Addicts crave their addictions, because of the way drugs alter their neural chemistry. According to which drug, the Neural System needs to be numbed to relieve the damage done by those drugs. QED

I have been told in the past that when you crave something that your body lacks one of the ingredients in that particular thing you crave. Whilst pregnant, I craved Red wine and Oranges, obviously Vit C in oranges but not sure about Red wine, may be iron? I think there is some truth in it because why would you crave certain things if your body and brain didnt want them!

No look you just crave things. I'm sure that its not your body telling you you need protein. Example look at crackheads they crave crack but their bodies dont need it.

I;m only familiar with pregnancy cravings. In that case I was always told if you didn't eat what you craved, your baby would be marked!!
