The rules inside a synagogue would be similar to that of any church. Civil behavior, modest dress, proper language are among the ideals sought. Jewish services are led by any adult (male only in orthodox synagogues) who is capable of doing so. During certain services sermons are given by the presiding rabbi. Jewish prayer services are very structured and essentially the same text is read for each type of service, with a few additions or subtractions based on the calendar.

Very religious jews seperate the sexes, males on one side and females on the other. Men where yomikas (usually) and most often a rabbi leads the service. In many synagogues another clergy member the cantor (or in hebrew Chazzan) leads the congregation in reciting prayers, usually by singing.
The synagogue will always have at least one, usually many Torahs. The Torah is kept in the ark which is located on the beema (stage). Above the ark is always light know as the eternal light, this light remains light at all times.
A service will usually consist of the reciting of some prayers, the reading of the torah and a sermon.
At the beginning of the service the shabbat candles are light. Each week a different portion of the torah is read (also read on holidays) so that about every august/september the entire scroll has been read and then started again. The sermon will come at the end of the service and usually talks about the torah protion for that day.

A synagogue is a Jewish place of worship, which means Muslims would not be able to help you with this.
In a synagogue men and women are seated separately, and they pray from a prayer book. The Torah is read alound, and the rule is: During prayer there is no talking.

I'd really recommend attending services in both a temple and a mosque.

Before you go, pick up a copy of "How to Be a Perfect Stranger: A Guide to Etiquette in Other People's Religious Ceremonies".
