Is Japan still the only place I can buy Sony products not made or assembled in China or Mexico???

It seems the quality of Sony electronics was much better when they were all made in Japan. Sometimes the quality totally sucks and the price is still high.

Not necessary. Sony has always been known for overprice stylish junk that always brakes right after the warranty expires regardless of the country they are assemble.

But lately their goods seems to be even worse than those that were made in Japan. They're continuing the tradition of overprice goods that go defective.

And this is not isolated to Sony, but also Panasonic, Sharp and Hitachi. The quality is just not there, that's why the prices are so competitive.

Some are made in the US. I have a friend who works for Sony in Pennsylvania.
But, I think Japan was the best.

I once bought Sony earphone in JP but in the packaging I can read Made in China.
I think it depends on the product if it's high end product like the new BRAVIA X series it still assembly in Japan but can't guaranty that all stuff inside that unit is made in japan.

Unlike the good old days, most Sony products sold in Japan, too, are no longer made in Japan. But that goes for most brands. Exceptions are really leading-edge stuff - but pricey.

Buy Panasonic and SHARP. Especially displays, you'll be able to get 100% "made in Japan" even in the US.
Today SONY is not that popular for Japanese compared to 10 years ago.

Hey, some people make food by using bad materials, it is not good. but it doesn't mean that all things from China is bad! especially now in the US there are many things(including food..clothes..etc) from China, what is wise to do is to buy things with the right certificates,not from some private individuals. I think it is not neccessary to refuse all products from China!
