I don't think it's that funny - not because I haven't got a sense of humour, just a different one to you. That's the way the world works - different people find different things amusing.
What I do find hilarious, however, is the amount of employment law advice you're getting, even though you clearly posted in the JOKES & RIDDLES section. Priceless!

Possibly if you would have said Calcutta Catch the 2pm rickshaw to the nearest port .Or you can catch the 2.30PM Elephant taxi that will get you to the port But she did not see the joke so there was a report and you lost your job every little don't help .Go to Tesco for a job and commit Industrial Espionage on the Service Till against Asda .

I think it's very funny, but you are not really allowed to have a sense of humour in this country anymore, not unless New Labour say so. But I would argue - if you wish to fight Asda - you were going to say Dover is a word you associate with port, you use the name Dover to remind you about imports and as it happened 'port' just happened to be mentioned.

If it is your first offence then it certainly is. You should have been given a written warning. If it was for Gross Misconduct then you could have asked that a colleague or friend be with you as a witness. As it was an Asian lady I assume she reported you for suggesting that she get on a boat. Ask at the Job Centre for help on this one as it could effect your benefits.
