Our 2 yr. old is having a tonsilectomy next week. We went thru this with our 6 yr old a couple months ago, so we sorda know what to expect. But has anyone else been thru this with one so young?

Expect a couple of ouchy days as his or her throat will be extremely sore and they won't understand why like a 6 yr old may have. Expect whiney and clingy behavior. Luckily kids bounce back quick from this sort of thing. I will be sending good thoughts your way. My daughter is having gall bladder surgery on Dec 4th I expect whining and clingy behavior and she is 20. Your babies are always your babies. don't you agree? It will be a time of spoiling and extra cool treats like popcicles and ice cream.

Plz plz plz be very careful although people say tonsillectomies are routine doctors are very careless when it comes to that surgery. My family lost my 6 year old cousin to to a careless doctor she died if massive blood loss. If that isn't enough 6years later my little brother was five and he underwent the same procedure different city different hospital different staff and again it happened to our family the only difference was that we caught it fast because we knew what it was like to watch my cousin throw up her own blood and being unable to stabalize her... my brothers alive today because my cousin died 6 years earlier from the same thing.. If that wasnt enough a 13 yrs old is brain dead because of blood loss because of careless doctors. look up tonsillectomy girl in a coma it's a new story. Just be really careful

I've never had to go through that, thankfully, but a friend of mine had some problems with her oldest son when he was pretty young. I think she said that from the time he was two until he was a little over three he had to have three surgeries (a tonsillectomy, an appendectomy and a cholecystectomy) and was hospitalized several other times. That poor little guy! I couldn't imagine having to deal with that with one so young.

My thoughts are with you and your little one!

I've never heard of a child so young having their tonsils removed - the dr. must think that that taking them out now will save a lot of discomfort in the future. Good luck, and be ready with the popsicles!

well, this sucks. I am glad I have never had to had my tonsils removed. I suggest talking to the doctor about what you can do to make things go easier during recovery. It will be ok.
