Isn't it funny that people put christains down for their beliefs and then in return they try to put their beliefs on christains. I am a Christain and I believe in heaven and hell. I will stand and say that Jesus is coming back and He will have the final judgement.

People tend to use this forum as a springboard for conversation. All conversation and debate isn't "putting someone down" - however, I'll admit that some is. Some people just want to argue and flame. Try to ignore those people and seek out the reasonable ones to talk with.

Or if you're uncomfortable talking with ANY non-christians, you might try a christian-only board. This one is for all religions.

The question is not so much beliefs as lies the church told. You believe in heaven and hell. I was raised to believe in limbo and purgatory also. Guess what. Dante in the late 1200 wrote a story about the many levels of hell and purgatory was in there. The church decided that was cool and shoved it down the throats of people for the next 800 years and it only exists in some ones mind. You won´t find it in the bible. Maybe a Jimmy and Jimmy melospeak version of the bible, but no real one.

I think the biggest reason is this.
Jesus as a man is an example any should undertake to exemplify however Christ and the church and religion in general are part of the idle worshiping of idols and ideals while example is fundamentally not attended too.

Don't forget that buddha is not buddist, jesus is not christian and mohammad is not muslim...

Conception of any, must yield to effect upon every.
It matter’s not what or whose side any are on.
It matters not: place, time, shift in persuasion, or perception of power.
No, person, idol, icon, idea, or, ideal alone, gives, or, grants, absolution.
Mutually accommodating sway perpetuates beyond.
Worldly trappings do not assess. Validity prevails.

By the way buddha, mohammad and jesus walk together.

Why do people put pagans down?

Isn't it funny that people put pagans down for their beliefs and in return they try to put their beliefs on pagans? I am a pagan and I don't believe in heven and hell. I will stand and say that Mithras is coming back and He will have the final judgement.

Hmmm. Funny how we could insert ANY belief system in there and it would be true....

Really, only the fundamentalists who try to force their religion down others throats get tagged. There's an old saying, "The squeeky wheel gets the grease." It applies here.

Nearly all my irl friends are christians, and I don't make an issue of it; they know I'm an atheist and they respect it, and they love me enough to not try to force me to accept their beliefs since they have no more proof of theirs than I do of mine. I would never bash their faith in front of them. Now, if they want to discuss and debate, which I'm pleased to endulge in, I do so with great passion, but great respect.

When the missionaries come to my door, if they want to talk, I talk. If they just want to hand me their pamphlet and walk away, I accept it graciously or I'll calmly decline and say simply that I'm comfortable in my atheism. Most nod, some literally shake their feet or scrape their shoes or something (which I respect BIG TIME because it shows they know their Bible!), but some go utterly off on me. I show no respect to these types.

I am comfortable in my atheism, as you seem comfortable in your Christianity. I won't try to force mine on you if you don't try to force yours on me. Apply force, however, and don't be surprised if you get force back. It's a 'law' of science after all -- for every action there is an equal and opposite reaction.

It's a lack of understanding. Anyone that puts Christianity or Christians down has a preconceived notion or perhaps has dealt with "Christians" by name only and not by their actions.

Our walk speaks volumes over anything we could ever say.

Perhaps if they take a little time and read the New Testament in the Holy Bible, study and get to know it...they would have a greater understanding of who we are...and who we are not!

Some or most (but not all) have never read the New Testament and are only "following" what others have said.

We, as Christians need to show the love of God. After all, look at who we represent!

I don't think it's funny at all... It's kismet.

Since Christians are so quick to tell everyone that their beliefs are wrong, it seems only fitting and proper that they should be treated the same way. As a collective, you insult people with your sanctimony and hypocrisy. Frankly, I think you deserve everything that you get.

Jesus was a con man, and a petty wanna-be. There wasn't even anything special about him when you compare him to other "saviors". Stand for him all you like, but that doesn't change the fact that he was an idiot, a criminal, and a fraud.

Take heart, for it is written-
John 15:18-20
"If the world hates you, you know that it hated Me before it hated you. If you were of the world, the world would love it's own. Yet because you are not of the world, but I chose you out of the world, therefore the world hates you. Remember the word that I said to you, 'A servant is not greater than his master.' If they persecuted Me, they will also persecute you."

Many people put Christians down because they often publically display themselves as being "not very bright" and not having paid any attention in school, by doing things like repeatedly misspelling Christian as "Christain", LOL!

why do christians put people down, respect is a two way street and not a double standard reserved for pompous jesus freaks. Oh and i dont hate you because i hate the truth, i was a christian for 20 some odd years, i hate you because my experience and the experience of others tells me youre all fakes and liars. Ive had family that cant get along because of christianity, yet the sheep bleat out that its a religion of peace and tolerance. Tolerance? like the godhatesfags website run by christians?or the death pentaly voted in by christian fundies? get real. its all a big fat LIE!!!!!!! Most divorces are by christian marriages, most christians are in jail for bad crimes that they DID COMMIT! Now did someone say something about non christians dont like the truth? why is my question deleted for challenging fundie christians?
