UK question about siting bird houses?

I'm putting my bird houses out well before spring. Any tips on the best position to encourage blue titts, also what type of box and position do I need to encourage robins?

Tit boxes want to be placed 6-10 feet high. Place them so they get the evening sun. Robins nest very close to the ground in just about anything. They like some kind of container like a flowerpot or anything that is open. It needs to be tucked away somewhere dry and very quiet.(Old run down sheds, Overgrown ivy bushes ect) However robins will very often leave their young if disturbed at all so if you get then nesting keep well clear.

Not sure about robins. We've two tit boxes which I put up, one on a tree, the other on a fence. The only things to watch (I think) are: if you have more than one box, don't put them too close to each other in case the birds feel a bit territorial, don't put then where they'll get full sun on them and turn the entrance away from direct sun and wind.

Site then North or East facing, so that they will not get too hot. On a wall or tree or high fence, think can cats, squirrels, Magpies get at the young. Go to RSPB on the internet, you will get the best advice.

you would be better putting your box ouside a nightclub...pref...in winter.....put in some alcopos.. and a kebab........lo and behold you will see the strange bird form drunks vill getting undressed and eating the kebab,, drinking the alcopops .. and you will be surprised how many bluetits you see in the winter months if you follow this advice/
