I had this same relationship with a guy. The way I solved it is by talking to him a lot and introducing him to people and playing a lot of games. Also, invite him to so many parties with you and also don't forget to have a good time. That is the most important thing.

You just have to be persistent and patient, and sometimes even "be the guy" and take the initiative. If he likes you....he'll say yes...
