Never mind the inquisition, and the torture and killing of innocent people for heresy…

Never mind the difference of opinion relating to His family tree, causing constant hatred and wars in the ‘Holy Land’…

Never mind 9/11 and 7/7, and the constant threat of terrorism from extreme God-lovers…

Never mind the strange bloke waving his Bible and shouting extreme nonsense across an otherwise peaceful shopping area...

Never mind all that where God takes peace and makes noise and trouble…

What about my right to have some sleep on a Sunday morning after 6 days hard work and a night out on Saturday, instead of being woken up by bl**dy church bells???

I know, I know – it’s not God’s fault – it’s the people who believe in him. And that’s why I’m asking YOU. Well it would have been pointless asking HIM, wouldn’t it?

Any chance of a bit of peace and respect?

waycyber - I think they've made the church bells louder over the years to reach more people, because the attendances are falling.

You have my sympathy, God Botherers cause so much trouble in the world, even not counting the wars, the intolerance, the mind numbing boredom of hating ranters like Paisley, Bin Liner, Pat Robertson, etc.

I never, ever approach people and start bringing them the good news that there is no God, so no need to worry, just be peaceful and good to your fellow man. But the God Botherers have no such inhibitions, and bore us all rigid with their hatred.

Back to your bells problem. Must confess I rather like the sound of church bells. From a distance. At about 11am or 3pm. In your situation I don't know what I'd do - earplugs ?

Maybe find out where the bell ringers live, and on your way home on a saturday night, knock loudly on their door until they wake up. They will have gone to bed early in order to be up at sparrows fart and start clanging. When you have woken them, ask them (innocently) what time the bells start tomorrow morning. They will be delighted at your interest, and that you have taken the trouble to wake them up especially to tell them about it! :)

If you want my opinion, the terrorists to blame for 9/11 and 7/7 didn't love God at all, otherwise they wouldn't have gone blowing up his creation, would they?

Anyway, Church bells. It's your fault for having a night out on the Saturday really, isn't it?

Just kidding. The Church I go to (or two churches, one at home and one at uni) don't have bells. I'm not really sure why they use them.

For the person who reckons that 'the devil's music' is played at a more sociable hour. I don't agree. Cars go down my street at 3 in the morning, blasting out their music at full volume. I only sleep between 2 and 4 so it is definitely not a sociable hour. And at least the bells only happen once a week. I get the cars every single day.

Did you move into an area where there were church bells? Not far from me there is a little village with a dog kennels. The kennels have been around for decades. A family moved into the area and then complained about the noise! I have also heard similar stories about people complaining about noise from schools, cockerels and other things that were around long before they moved in. The answer in each case was "You should have known about this when you bought the house. If you don't like it, move! - They were here first."

I couldn't agree with you more, it is an absolute outrage. About twenty years ago I worked in a country hotel where I lived in. I worked very long hours six days and evenings per week and had Sundays off, the church bells from across the street started about eight am every Sunday.

I should have been able to report them to the police or local authority because audio pollution is a criminal offence but they would not have listened.

There is clearly no justice, you get more respect from the Devil. At least the Devil's music is normally played at a later and more respectable hour.

church bells wake you?

you must not have had enough to drink the nite before

why did you move so close to a church if you hate it so much?

if you stop the dudes with 5000 decibel speakers from blasting cr*p music as they drive down the street, I'll put a stop to the bells

deal?

peace

Is it the architect that is guilty when people ruin the building that he designed? or maybe destruction of the building is a proof that there was no architect?

If I give you a kitchen knife as a gift to make your life easier and you will decide to cut your hand off... will that mean that i am cruel or i dont exist?

Why dont you move out somewhere far away from the church and belivers so you wont hear any bells?
