I'm going to the SEC championship football game on 12-2 and the Hotel info says it's only .4 miles away.

West of the Georgia Dome you will find a lower economic area that is not safe to walk alone in at night.

From the Westin to the Phillips Arena/CNN Center/GA Dome area is not that big of a deal on Game Night because it will be packed with police and other SEC fans.

The real concern is getting lost and wandering off a few blocks into the wrong area. If you are not alone or a woman it shouldn't be that big of a deal.

No. Don't do it. I lived in Atlanta for two years until a year aog. One reason I moved is the crime...especially around the GA Dome. Just be safe - take a taxi, not a chance with your life. It's only 4 miles!

If it's in the evening/at night (when it's dark out) DEFINETELY DON'T DO IT! I go to the Westin periodically on weeknights and I have to walk with a group of friends because you never know what might happen. Stay safe!
