I wouldn't do it out of my Love and devotion to Him. He is my Lord and my God.. there are times I do call out to Him ... Abba... Jim

When I was in college, the Jesus freak students wore T-shirts that referred to Jesus as JC, so I would guess no.

It all depends on what your attitude is when you say JC. Are you saying it to be smart alecky or something. But, for me to say JC, I would feel like I was being disrespectful. His name is Jesus, not JC.

I'd say no. I was a Religion major, and used JC in my notes all the time for shorthand, as well as xn for Christian. As long as you call on His name then you're good.

I just saw a video were it talk about taking the name of the Lord in "vain".
Vain does not only mean using it as/with swear words, but using it out of context or in a frivolous way (not being respectful).
Like saying "Oh my Lord did you see that" or "Lordy did you see what see was wearing" or "I just received the HG".
So I would have to say that is is disrespectful.

I dont think that it is disrespectful..but believe him Jesus Christ i wouldn't refer to him as that, only because I wouldn't want to be called a nickname hehe..but I don't think that shortening it is so bad.

It is disrespectful, in the judeo-christian tradition, to refer to God by name in anything but the most sincere manner. Casual reference to God should never include a recognized name.

You can call him whatever you like but if you are busy thinking about what to call him, then you're missing the point of his existence.
This question has nothing to do with Religion and Spirituality... it sounds like you're asking to provoke peoples' reactions.

not nessarcilly, that is like calling you by your nickname or using your innatials. Just like the letter X in Xmas or other places, merlly represents Christ.
