because the illegals here feel like they are better than everyone else and Spanish should be the primary language of this country and try to force it upon the people, even though we've been speaking english since Columbus and the pilgrims landed here.

Apparently, it's purely a matter of economics. (1) There are many U.S. residents who speak Spanish (and may or may not speak English), (2) There are not as many Canadian residents who speak (nearly exclusively) French. Yahoo is, after all, an essentially American company attempting to serve its American base. Are there French postings in the Canadian site? I'd also guess that although there are multiple official languages in other countries (India, for example) their use is not such that there needs to be separate sites.

I am also completely shocked at the hate contained in the other responses. Just because someone speaks Spanish does not make them an illegal immigrant. "We" aren't catering to anyone; Yahoo, a business, chooses how it wants to package its goods for its own target markets. Why do you care?

Probably because the French Canadians are fluent in English. I have never met one who wasn't.

Besides....they are content in their own territory and don't shove French down the throats of the rest of the country. They haven't invaded cities and towns in other provinces and tried to change the language. They respect their boundries. I doubt very seriously that we could have a defined area of this country where they spoke Spanish and would stay the heck out of the English area.

Our civil rights are being violated!

Yahoo is a liberal thinking business.

Remember the 3 major networks are influencing the majority of Americans....they are liberal.

Most of the major newspapers in America are owned by several liberal corporations.

The Internet is the hold-out place for conservatives and loyal Americans, and they are seeking to manipulate that, as well.

The French stink. The "Spanish" American flag needs to be gone too.

Probably because no one has thought about it.

Most US citizens don't tend to remember Canada has two languages, until reminded. As you know, we can be a bit US-centric.

Because Rajiv in Bangalore, who organizes this site, has never been to Canada.

Because we once again have to cater to the special needs of illegals.
