There are several factors that dictate my preference: perked coffee is stronger, and its flavor is fuller than drip coffee. Also, if you have the right kind of coffee perker, you can watch the infusion happening right before your eyes, a aesthetic sensibility but nonetheless one of the joys of perking coffee. I'm just wondering what reasons you might have for preferring one method of preparation to another. (If you like it from a coffee press or by a method I don't know, feel free to speak up and tell me why you like it!)

I should have clarified that, all else being equal, including type/brand/flavor of coffee, which method is more to your taste. I was taking it for granted that there are different preferences in type of coffee but was only interested in the method preference, apart from other factors.

I think the only percolated coffee I had was done at my family's business, & it was never very good, though that could be because most people aren't picky about their coffee.
I really do like the French press process the best. When I worked at Caribou Coffee, my manager told us about how superior the French press is, & after the first taste that was what we did every morning: when I arrived, I'd make the French press for all of us. I was developing my abillity to taste coffee, & this method really brought out those flavors people talk about coffee having. & the crema is retained, which is important for a great cup too.
The reason this method is so passionately adhered to is that you use the coarsest grind you can for the coffee, so that when you pour water over it, the water comes in contact with more surface area with the coarser grind, which means more of the flavors & oils are extracted from the beans.

More than the type of coffee maker, the quality of the coffee is the biggest factor in determining the flavor of the beverage.
Take a pile of garbage for instance. You can pile it up by hand, with a rake, kick it around, etc. Whatever, you still have garbage.
The conscience is that the longer water is in contact with coffee grounds the more of the "not so good" elements of the beans are extracted. A percolator runs water through the grounds over and over.
No matter what, it is a matter of taste though.

I have not ever had instant coffee. We used to own a peculator, but it became quite a bit of trouble. So we know own a coffee maker that does not reheat the coffee and it rocks! We were in Germany for years so we have become quite accustomed to drinking a brand called Jacobs. The grind of the coffee is almost like mud and the flavor is super and it is a bit strong without the bitter taste. American coffee the grind is like a sand, plus you can not add more to make it strong because it will just turn out really bitter with a bit of a burnt flavor....nasty!

I like perked coffee, too, but we usually have drip coffee. We make it in a 4 cup pot so it doesn't get old and bitter before we finish.
We also grind our own coffee. We do have a grinder at home, but it's easier and faster to just grind it at the supermarket on the very fine setting. Then we keep it in the freezer before use.
Coffee press brew is good but too much trouble!

I prefer coffee from a drip maker. Sometimes coffee in a peculator may burn and cause the coffee to taste bitter.

yes perked coffee is really good ..i agree...it is stronger and tastes so much better cause it perks the coffee for a while and squeezes the drippings.....dripped coffee goes thru just once and there is a lot of wastage...

For me, it doesn't make any difference as long as it's coffee with milk/cream and sugar.

Perked, dripped, anything but instant (unless it is an emergency).
