Carly you would have found out by now if you had burned his house down the police would have tracked you down. Your boyfriend is probably like all of us and makes similar mistakes or has done in the past!! I once went on holiday for two weeks and left my electric blanket on and it was actually lying half on the floor - I left in a hurry - and I nearly died when I came home and discovered it. Last night for instance I left pasta on for half an hour and it was mush, will I ever learn!! good luck with your boyfriend he will calm down eventually. Paranoia doesnt even cover how worried I get now when I leave the house.

God yes! I once backed up and went home as i was freaking out. I was about an hour late for work and it turned out that I had unplugged them after all! Oh well. Id rather worry than go home to a pile of ashes.
You can get ones now though that have a mechanism so they automatically turn off after 1/2 hour.

Me me me! Only because I actually went out and left them switched on, and left them on my bed where i came home to find scorch marks through my sheet and on the mattress. Good job I didn't pull the duvet over the bed, and my mattress actually was fire resistant, cos i know my house would have had it! Now I'm really paranoid and check them at least twice before I go anywhere, and I always leave them on my bedroom floor to cool, rather than on the bed! My straighteners are my Godsend, but they are so dangerous when they are left on!

I always do this. For me the best way to not do it is to unplug it as soon as I finish the last piece. Same with a curling iron if I use it. I don't think it will hurt anything if you have it on a bathroom counter or something but better safe than sorry!

No, I used to be paranoid about my daughter leaving hers on. One afternoon I went upstairs and smelt a strange burning smell coming from her bedroom and found her straightners left on somehow wrapped up inside her dressing gown. Yes it was starting to smoke! It`s a good job I was there don`t you think? Otherwise we`d have all been homeless. Bloody kids........!

I left mine on for 14hrs last week. They are cordless so are upright in the stand. But still amazed the house didn't burn down or at least the straightners burn out.
I triple check now!
