Pits are a very cool breed. They have a complex personality, they are versatile. They are happy as a house pet or a working dog. Their tenacity is admirable .They have a great sense of humor and can play and rough house all day. I' personally ,think they are beautiful to look at. Though to some degree these qualities could be attributed to other breeds ,I see more and a greater pronunciation in the Pit. It is just one of the breeds that people fall in love with. Holli ,is my 3rd.

Image, this is america! Pitbull despite the contraversy are striking looking dogs, most have a large square head, ripped muscles etc. This image reflects on the owner and owners like it. Pits are an attention getters. But sadly because of this profound appearance bad owners have made bad dogs who are now threatened by the Breed Specific Legislation.
Punish the Deed not the Breed!

Well, I would say there are four types of people who are interested. The first one likes the image of them and they think it will make them look "cool". The second wants to get the dog for the disgusting act of fighting it. The third thinks that they make good guard dogs. Truthfully, Pits are people friendly and would probably just lick the intruder like crazy. Unfortunately, some of those people abuse the dogs to get them to hate people. The the fourth just really feel for the breed because it's getting a bad rap and they want to help spread the word and show proof that they are good dogs. You're brother should be leary. If he decides to take an offer, he better check them out thoroughly to make sure they aren't getting them for image, gaurd dogs, or fighting.

If she's a really good looking dog then they could want her for breeding purposes. Most likely though they see her as an oppurtunity to get a lil cash by fighting her. People need to realize that not all pits are aggressive. They have a 'tendency' to be aggressive due to all the in-breeding when the breed was first created.

It's happened to me with my girls. I'll take Piper for a walk and some one will come up to me and ask me if I would like to sell her ,the person would be willing to give how ever much money I want for her. They've done it with Tigger to. Another thing I get asked a lot is if i'm going to breed her and can they use their male with her to breed.
No amount of money you can offer me would make me get rid of my dogs .I would never breed my dogs. Any one that comes up to you and offers to buy your dog ,their intentions are not honerable. The person either wants the to breed to death if she's a not spayed female ,or to fight ,or a bait dog.
The APBT is probably one of the most stolen dogs from their owners yard. I always watch my dogs very closely when they are out side.Tell your brother to be careful with his dog.

Pit bulls are very teritorial, and if raised right can be a very good friend and companion. They usually only take with one person though so they are not normally a family dog, although if they are raised from a puppy with the children they will treat children great too.

Unfortunately, shelters (certainly in our area and I have reason to believe in other areas too) are full of pits (Amstaf Terriers). I think that many people are attracted to the image of them or otherwise desire/purchase them on impulse without understanding the breed or being willing to invest the time for appropriate training and socialization. This certainly appears to be the case with those individuals who approach your brother on the street. For this reason many end up in shelters or put to sleep.
Please research any breed thoroughly before purchasing or adopting. Make sure you are committed to keeping that dog for life.

1. They are dogs. People love dogs.
2. They are good guard dogs I guess, so people are willing to pay for them, because they serve a purpose besides being cute.
3. They have a reputation of being fierce. This puts some people off, but it is appealing to others, maily men, especially those who want to cover their own insufficiency (sexual, personnal, professional, and so on) by owing a dog that is fearful to others.
4. They use the dogs in fights and make money.

The people that offer money on the streets like that are only looking to make money with that dog. They don't care that it is someone's pet and is loved. They're looking to make money because the dog porbably has strong features and could bring in some money fighting.
Sad sad world...

Lets see because they like to snuggle, protect you, follow you around, listen very well, catch on quickly to new things(commands and words), funny, very handsome, just to list a few qualities. Our APBT has to stay inside(plus we wouln't have it any other way)b/c people come over just to see him(b/c he is so handsome and very well taken care of). People are always saying things like how much will you take for him or are you wanting to sell him-GET REAL HE IS A MEMBER OF THE FAMILY!!! My husband and I don't want kids so our APBT and our Miniature Pinscher are our kids.
