I started to grow a beard 26 days ago after several 'false starts', up to then I had at the longest gone 11 days without shaving. After those 11 days I shaved it off, it took 4 razors altogether to get it all shaved off, since then I have only gone 8 days without shaving, knowing if I went longer that I would have to use more than one razor to shave it all off. Yes the itching usually starts about a week, in my case it was for about 3 or 4 days into this now the longest I have gone without shaving, but after the 12th day the itching stopped, so I got over that hurdle. If you really want to grow a beard, then persevere when the itching starts for those few days just over a week. I am still aware of my beard growing, anyway its not officially a beard until 8 weeks growth, certainly it looks like a beard but I still have to wait just over 4 weeks until its OFFICIAL as they say. Watching some beard video's on Youtube and it varies on what 'goal' a lot of the men want with their facial hair, made me think of what I want, well I just wanted to grow one for a while, its now up and running and perhaps if I do have a goal regarding my beard which is growing quickly I might want it to be 8" eventually, it depends on how quickly it grows or it could just stop, even if it got only to 4" I think I would be quite happy with that, I'll just wait and see what happens, I want a "full beard" not any sort of manicuring or goatee or the 101 names given to guys beards, ''let it rip'', all hang out, fully natural, not trimming except for some hairs near my lips, I do not want to have hair in my mouth when I am eating, those would be the only part of my beard that would be trimmed, most people who have seen me including my family say I suit a beard, in fact my daughter told me I look better now than clean shaven, not sure what she might think if I achieve my goal of a 8" beard, hmmm.

Scratch it!

LoL, no, exfoliate. And moisturise. Daily!

And don't be conned into shaving it off it you really want to keep it... Otherwise you'll end up asking this same question in a month's time when you try again! :)

Keep it clean and use a facial exfolliant to get rid of the loose hairs and dead skin cells flaking and causing irritation.

When you shave around it, try using shaving oils rather than harsh soaps or foams.

King Of Shaves sells some great ones, plus you can request a free sample online on their website. They deliver the sample quite quickly too. You can also buy them in Boots.

You can't use lotion because it gets stuck on the hair and becomes a sloppy mess, right? The best thing to do is use moisturizing soap while in the shower, so it gets past the hair and into the skin. I used dove while i was growing mine; but anything really girly usually takes the edge off just enough. Pick up a little travel size because it only lasts a week or so.

Interesting question. I began growing a beard two weeks ago, and for the first time it has not begun to itch. I don't know why except that after one week I shaved it into a mustache and goatee. Now it is getting full, and I still have no itch. I feel blessed. You might just have to put up with it, and do not listen to the naysayers who tell you not to grow one. It's your call, not theirs!!

Chow!!

try using Nivea for men to help cool the area and moisturise your skin. It's probably dry that's why it's itching.
