I am using a Sony DSC S500 Digital Camera and I am using NiMH Battery in that camera. What do you think that NiMH battery is better and gives more shots as compared to Lithium ion battery or not, and how many shots can I click with flash using NiMH battery?? And can I modify my camera so that I can use Lithium Ion battery instead of NiMH battery. Thank you

The best way to modify your camera would be to sell it.

Are Lithium Ion batteries available in standard sizes like AA , C or D cell size?

No, Lithium-ion batteries are not available in standard sizes. We believe this is because it would be too easy for users to inadvertently put them in a charger not designed for Lithium-ion batteries creating a potentially dangerous situation. (If an alkaline battery is put into the wrong charger it might leak or even burst, but a lithium-ion battery put into a NiCd or NiMH charger not designed for lithium-ion, might ignite. Also, because Li-ion batteries operate at much higher voltage (typically 3.7V per cell) than the 1.2 to 1.5V of most cell batteries, designing a 1.5V lithium-ion cell would be expensive.

A LiMH battery has less power than the NiLi. NiLi has more power than both the NiMH and NiCd batteries. NiMH have self draining time twice as fast as a NiCd. Therefore power in Ni MH lasts twice as short as a NiCd.

So powerwise I would think NiLi - then NiCd and then NiMH.

Pricewise NiLi are most expensive

because the first battery has more power and will give the flash a brighter flash and the pictures will come out a little better and the pictures will be the same but the first battery u used will last longer.
