Have a trained and licensed piercer do your tongue and follow her instructions on care.

Yeah it hurts!

I had my tongue pierced last year and found on the sale of 1 - 10 on pain it is about a 4 i found my nipple to be a 2- 3 and my belly to be a 6 (only because the guy hadnt done one before and stopped half way in and wiggled!). its a sharp pain but it doesnt last long. if you can have a tattoo you can have your tongue done!
it will be very sore to eat for a few days although the first day you dont really feel too much and personally i felt like i was going to swallow the bar all the time because they have to be so long to allow for swelling.
As long as you keep the bar and your mouth very clean it will be fine. I used to take a bottle of mouth wash to work with me and rinse my mouth out whenever it started to get sore or at least once an hour for about 2 weeks and ive never ever had a problem with it.

When I had it done, I think at the time it was the nerves and anxiety that got me more than the pain. It did hurt actually having it pierced, but actually less than a bellybutton piercing. The most painful part came AFTER the actual piercing - from about 2-3 hours after through the next 3 days or so. Your tongue will swell up and ice is the only thing that will make it feel any better (or make it not feel). Eating is really not possible for the first few days, so that is another thing to consider. Good luck - I did like mine when I had it!

I have my tongue pierced and it didn't hurt.Think about all the times you've bit your tongue it hurts like an SOB well getting it pierced doesn't hurt as bad as that nor does the pain last that long either. I also have my hood pierced and the pain was intense but it only last for about one second so if getting your hood pierced (hood above clit) only hurts for a second a tongue piercing really shouldn't hurt much. As far as I know all piercings just hurt for a second and it's because of the endorphins running through your body at the time of the piercing. Onto the next part, as long as you brush your teeth 3 times a day and swish with listerine and don't drink anything citrusy like orange juice (my sister did and her tongue swelled right back to where it was when she first got it pierced, this was a few days after she got it done, once it healed everything was fine.)

I have had my tongue pierced for close to 9 years now...Yes it hurts...anyone who tells you that it doesn't is lying to you. Your having a 16g needle shoved through your tongue! It will bleed and you will talk funny for a day or two. Drink cold drinks and stay away from solid food for a day or two until you adjust to a foreign thing in your mouth. Try using Glyoxide. You can find this at any grocery store...just ask the pharmysist. Put about 3 drops on your tongue..it will foam and turn white. Don't swallow, spit it out and do this everytime you eat. Glyoxide will help with swelling and help your tongue to heal faster. BUT remember most of all...for the first week...DONT PLAY WITH IT OR TOUCH IT WITH YOUR FINGERS. You will get an infection and that isn't good.

It didnt hurt me at all. I've gotten mine pierced twice. (the first time my ball fell off and i had to take the bar out for too long and it closed up.) It really depends on the person. I have a really low tolerance to pain but this didnt bother me at all. My ears hurt more! lol. It will swell a little, & maybe discolor for a few days. But mine only bled a few drops & was tender for about 2 wks. After that, i forgot it was even there! I've had mine in since 2002 & have never had 1 infection. Go for it!

don't worry too much about it getting infected; just make sure that you use listerine every time after you eat, smoke(if you smoke), or drink anything other than water. that may seem like alot but if you aren't willing to go through all that, then don't do it.

As far as the pain, all i can say is this: if you cry when you bite your tounge, then don't. Oh, and if you are nervous then don't watch someone else get one before you do, it will either make you too scared or make you sick and chicken out.

I was able to eat a Dairy Queen Burger, Fries, and a pop right after i got mine done. it just depends on the person.

I dosnt really hurt but it swells up so say no to solid foods for a couple of days. The infection risk is higher than any other body part but the person doing the piercing should provide you with a special mouth wash (although saltwater gargling is just as effective)

You hear horror stories about bleeding to death but these cases are freak accidents.

Your tongue ring will not get infected if u follow EXACTLY what the piercer tells u to do aftercare wise. all you have to do is find a GOOD piercer. then your piercer will tell you to suck on ice due to swelling.Rinse your mouth withh listerine everytime after you eat. In MY opinion if u have survived a tattoo and a navel piercing you will be able to survive getting your tongue pierced. once again in MY opinion biting your tongue hurts more than getting it pierced. the thing that bugged me most about piercing my tongue was the swelling and learning how to chew and swallow with the tongut ring in the middle of my mouth. but after a week or 2 you'll be fine. also no oral contact or oral sex with your mouth for 4-6 weeks.

I had mine done about 3 years ago and I can say it didnt hurt as much as my belly. When the numbness wears off its sore though and you will have some probs controlling your speech and with eating. I drank lots of choc milk through a straw and don t even try eating rice or anything really small for a couple of weeks. Good luck though cos I think they look really cool. Oh and try not to play with the bar in your mouth cos its real easy to chip a tooth that way!

I had my tongue pierced when i was 18 (26 now). I personally found that it was a killer! I remember dribbling a lot when my tongue was clamped out of my mouth! It was swollen for a good couple of days, although after the swelling had gone down it wasn't too bad.

It's did unfortunately get infected, not sure how, and I had to remove it. I've now got a little lump on the underside of my tongue which will never go away.

If you do get it done, I'd suggest going to Cold steel in Camden. There very reputable!
