It has been tried before. Growing up in the south, specifically Charleston, SC....there are many signs still left of the effects of the Civil War.

The Mexican government WILL try this. That has been the goal all along. One state at the time. Will we have a president in power who has the testosterone to be a man and bring this to a screeching halt? Who knows...we do not have one now who gives a damn about our borders.

Well, it is highly possible by vote considering hispanics are the majority. But the question is, are legal hispanics the majority? Because illegals aren't allowed to vote you know. And say all this stuff did happen. What makes you think the big businesses and the people that keep this staterunning aren't just gonna get up and leave. Which pretty much leaves the hispanics to take over. If california becomes a part of Mexico. Then what makes you think it will be the same as it is now? Mexico is a perfect example of what happens when Mexicans run the country, so what makes to think California won't be the same as Mexico? Besides, if Southern california were it's own country, it would be ranked number 7 in the world. So what makes you think the U.S. will let this happen? All I see from that is turning CA into another part of an already poverty ridden country. I know I won't be in this state when that happens.

Note: when you said La Raza teaches about Aztlan being fictional, do hispanics realize what fictional means. For your information, fictional means make believe. Teach that to your friends. I want to hear about some non-fictional stuff from these pro-illegals. That is real information and proof. Not these stupid make believe stories.

Note: You also said the 40 million or so hispanics in America. I'm pretty sure that makes you the minority considering there are 300 million or so people in this country.

California already has English as its official language believe it or not.And I wouldn't be surprised that Ca might someday try to secede from the Union but it will never happen.The majority of Mexicans understand the limitations that would come along with any attempt to break away from the US.The radical groups that expound this are very ignorant in their thinking.One state can not survive without the government.If all federal funds were withdrawn,all federal,laws.all federal connections to that state were eliminated.That state would collapse.upon its self.Mexico corrupt government would destroy the state within 6 months .Do you think that any one in Hollywood would stay? All the military bases would be removed from the state..While they may think it,I cant see that ever becoming a reality.But then again who knows?

I live in Ca and believe in the democratic process so if this happens I will get a gun and act like the Mexican government. I will start shooting the people I do not agree with. What ever happens by Americans voting I will follow even if I don't like it but if Ca becomes part of Mexico I too will jump the border.

I just saw that someone said illegals are not allowed to vote and I wonder if you are really that nieve. They do vote the same way that they produce documentation when needed (by fraud). When I went for the midterm elections I was not even asked for ID but was just asked for name and address which any good thief could produce.

I agree with the person named"The Wrath of God is coming". Seceding is Specifically the reason for our last fratricidal Civil War. It was not about freeing slaves they were alredy free. The Southern States wanted independance from the Federal government because up until that point, the States held more power. Slaves were alredy free before the war. The war ended and Lincoln was shot by John Wilkes Booth. Then a politician from the North decided to "punish" the South by placing blacks in all the positions in Government above them. He considered it punishment for their rebellion.

I am not sure that even if the state of California elected to secede from the US, that it would be allowed. I remember something called the Civil War in US history.

Also, if California voted to make spanish the official language, you can be assured that would startle the rest of the states (and their legislatures, at least the needed 3/4 of them) and there would be no problem getting an amendment to the US constitution making english the official language of the US and that would completely and 100% trump whatever law California would have voted.
