For the answerer above, OSX is not Linux. It is based on BSD Unix.

If you don't want to use this, and really want a total install of Linux, you'll need to be running an Intel-based Mac, and use the Bootcamp program just like you would if you wanted to install windowsXP. Have a look at the link below to talk you through it.

If you are running a PowerPC-based Mac, you can only install Linux through a virtual machine emulator like VirtualPC within OSX.

Um, if you have a recent MAC and are using the MAC OSX, that IS Linux... it is Debian Linux for that matter. Look in the Utilities folder under the Tools section for "Terminal" - that is the Linux shell for OSX. Just fire it up and start issuing your Linux commands right from there.

pop the disc in and hold down the c key as it boots follow the prompts and let it format the drive automaticly
