there is no safe way for you to lose a lot of weight in such a short period of time so before going on any kind of diet or workout plan, you need to accept that. it's going to take a while for you to lose weight. however, if you switch to well balanced, healthier eating habits and start on a regular workout routine, you may be able to see a small change and feel better about yourself by the time the dance rolls around.

i suggest you combine aerobics with strength training, 6 days a week. as far as food goes, i'm not sure how many calories you eat a day but you need to create a calorie deficit in order to lose weight. a really good article about how to do this is here:
http://weightloss.about.com/od/eatsmart/a/blcalintake.htm

you also want to eat smaller portions of food in 5-6 small meals a day (3 main ones + 2 or 3 snacks in between).

another thing is that you shouldn't be as concerned about your weight as you should the amount of inches you're losing in your arms, waist, thighs, etc.. you should get a tape measure and take your mesaurements once a week instead of using a scale because scales are bad news and can be very deceiving. another important thing is to be consistent! even if it looks like there have been no changes, you have to keep going.

good luck!

any kind of weight loss and toning muscle takes a lot of time, you have less than a month to do this, so you probably won't notice any results by homecoming, so if you want to do this in a healthy way, just take it easy, and work out and eat well, you may not lose a lot of weight right away, but you will feel better and have more energy
