Easy Peasy, simply rename hospital waiting lists to something like, 'patient in pre-recovery'

Hey Presto no more waiting lists, but a million more people who are in pre-recovery.

I NEVER trust or believe ANYTHING this government says or does.

The NHS is falling apart and there are way too many administrators, pen-pushers and Pointy Haired Bosses creating waste and mismanagement all over the place to falsely justify their excessive salaries.

An end to waiting lists in the NHS can only mean a couple of things, either they will rename waiting lists, or they will re-name or scrap the NHS, so there cannot be any NHS waiting lists if there is no NHS!

Either that or they are expecting a nuclear war, and then the NHS would collapse anyway!

BTW, I am constantly amazed at how many American's (our delightfully stupid collonial cousins) believe everything is always about them! good god! the question is simple and clear enough! since when as Ms Hewitt been an American secretary of state? This is CLEARLY about the British NHS in Britian, you know yanks, that tiny country that OWNED you once? (and according to your own legal system it still does! look it up!)

And they get pissed when we call them dumb yanks!

Hospital waiting lists? This must be something for people who are receiving their health care from the government already. I have excellent coverage through my employer, and I've never had to wait to get into a hospital.

We need to keep health care out of the hands of the government. Ask any veteran who has a choice if they'd ever go to a VA hospital. The VA hospital is always their LAST choice. Why? Because the government is only good at national defense. Everything else that the stick their fingers into gets screwed up.

Please Democrats, don't let the government take over our lives like this. Once they have a vested financial interest in our health, then they will start dictating what we eat, how much we exercise, how much sleep we get, etc.

Don't think it will happen? They're already outlawing trans fat in NYC. Do you really want the people who can't decide whether or not eggs, butter, and margarine are good or bad for you telling you what to eat? They've flip flopped on those foods and many others.

I think you will see a decrease in waits for people who need an angioplasty within 90 minutes of an Infarct! This is due to physicians coming up with their own plan, not the Republicans!

Other than that, Patricia is a liar and all political hype!

Er's are used as a primary source for those without health insurance andf that won't change while Republicans are in power, just more of them

What is sad, and the other reason she is a liar, Md's on weekends and nights send "THEIR" patients to the ER for a 6 hour wait! They are to lazy to have a 24 hour on call physician! They certainly make enough!

The answer, if I had my way, was to set up a 24 hour clinic in addition to the ER where non life threatening issues be referred and the ER used for what it was intended!

Veterans don't go to VA hospitals because they are not funded correctly by all you "we support our troops" while you buddy Bush flatlines the Veterans Hospitals for 5 years, and the in 2006 he cut their budget by 8 BILLION in the mddle of a war that has been going on longer than WWII! Ironically, he has enough money to give the rich tax cuts, something no other president has done during a conflict in the history of our nation! The Republicans have been shutting military bases and their hospitals, where many veterans USED to go!

This question has lots to do with immigration. Without all the illegal immigrants getting ER care so that they will be treated without means of paying the wait would be shortened. Just having good insurance doesn't make line short.
I think that this is just spin but hope I am wrong. I don't believe that the laws will change enough to allow a ER to refuse services to people who haven't got the means to pay their bill instead I think us lucky people who live in states like Ca., NV., NM,.TX., AZ. will just keep watching our hospitals close down due to bankruptcy.

By the way let me be the first to laugh at my own ignorance. Wrong country. It is not about arrogance I am just used to seeing this type of question about the US.

Considering that the government has since it has been in power, made the N.H.S. worse, even though they have thrown more money at it, I would say not. What with ward closures, A&E department and hospitals closed, dirty wards, essential staff being made redundant, This has got to be more spin to take the heat off something else, and has no substance to it. The other day my daughter in law who is pregnant went to the emergency dept. with chest and leg pains. She was there for eight hours before being seen by a doctor and told she had to spend the night there for a blood clot. It certainly does not instill one with confidence.

What do you mean by 'waiting lists'? You mean in an emergency room? Or waiting lists for surgeries? No, the government is talking out of both sides of its mouth. They are telling people only what they want to hear. Around where I live, there are 'clinics' going up to help alieve the problem that hospitals are having. I hope this helps with your question.

If my illness is serious enough, I never had to wait. I am guessing you mean when someone needs an operation, and made to wait until there is availability in a hospital for a recovery stay?
I definately think that is govt. spin, and false. What could be changed to make no more waiting lists? Maybe let the interns, and nurses operate? Uh, that doesn't sound very healthy!

I imagine that the nugget of truth in there is the qualifier "as we know them". All this means is that by 2008 they'll have cooked up some new way of fiddling the numbers to make them look good.
