That is a tough question to answer because It really depends on your weight, timing of drinks and how much you have had to eat prior to drinking (or if you are eating while drinking). If you are drinking on a relatively empty stomach the absorption of alcohol is going to be far quicker than if you have a full tummy. Also, if you have 6 shots one right after the other you will feel the effects much quicker than if you have a shot then wait an hour or two before having another. I also believe that people build up a tolerance or resistance to alcohol the same as a drug so a hard core alcoholic would probably need more than the average drinker to feel the same effects.

Try to drink every day to get your tollerance up. I always see the maximum reccomended units a week as a bare minimum. Have a couple of drinks every night and you'll find that when you go out for a big one you can handle more. Also helps if you eat before and not during a session. And smoking and being a fat and lazy slob help as well.

You dont need to increase your tollerance, if your responsible enough to drink to your limit, whether that be alittle or alot, there shouldnt be an issue! My mates drink a hell of alot moe than me and I generally can only handle a few, but I know at the end of the night I'll be alright lol! If you are that worried, try eating a 'proper' meal before you go drinking, it lines your stomach (as my mum says) and allows to drink more and also prevents hangovers!

You could try eating a good meal before you drink

Try drinking shandy's - it'll look like you're drinking a pint but obviously it'll be more watered down.

Try to have a glass of water or a non alcoholic drink after every alcoholic drink you have.

Eat whilst drinking - peanuts or crisps

Apparently Carling have bought out a new drink called C2 which is half the strength of ordinary beer.

You're crazy, if you're serious. Anyway, you can increase your tolerance by doing weight resistance exercises, because they increase muscle mass. The liquid in your body dilutes alcohol, and since increased muscle to fat ratio increases the water in your body for diluting the alcohol that would do it. Why don't you just secretly ask the bar tender to put you only 1/2 or 1/4 the alcohol serving in each of your drinks and top with water, juice... no carbonated beverages 'cause they make alcohol reach your blood faster.

When i go out and don't wanna seem like im a lightweight drinker i have to pace myself and i drink water in between drinks . There is no way to increase your tolerance right away it takes time . It may take years of drinking everyday to bring it up .

Don't. You can nurse a drink or 2 all night and still feel sociable. It's not necessary to keep up with the others.....why follow the crowd? Besides someone needs to be the designated driver. If you want to get drunk, act stupid, say things you'll regret or forget what you did the night before and wake up feeling like death every day then go ahead and join them. Have enough confidence and self esteem to be yourself. You can still party and actually remember it and have a good time.

Whats the point, do you want a beer belly, to be an alcoholic, anti social, if you are happy with 2 drinks best of luck you are saving a lot off money, just don't go in rounds, and most girls are not impressed by how much stuff you can swill down.

Stay the way you are, its much healthier and happier by far! Isn't a few nice drinks better than downing the booze unnecessarily just to get pxxxxd and wake up feeling awful the next day and to find that you can't remember whether you had a good time or not anyway!!!

You don't. I'm a light weight drinker as well. Two drinks & I'm good. Then I get to laugh at the extremely drunk people trip over themselves.
