It might be Shao Kang. I know Shao Kang from the Xia dynasty, though his name is written with different characters. Or could it be Shao Yong, the ancient philosopher?

邵康節 is a Song-dynasty figure.
He is renown for fortelling future.
He was born in 1011, died in 1077.

You are probably refering to the chinese "word" interpretor from late Ming dynasty. ( around 500 years ago )
He was famous for a type of fortune telling by means of using "words" and "Yi" mathematics which was passed down to him from an ancient art.
e.g. If you were to inquire about something, he would ask you to choose a "word" as the sign of divine answer. He then calculates the out come in a form of word interprutation and predicts events with uncanny accuracy.
