This person is not your "opponent", because if this your partner, then you 2 are not in a competition for her. However, the real issue here would be, if your gf is flirting back and how this person's advances makes her feel.
If it is a matter of the gf being drawn in by this, then you've got a problem, not with the other person, but with keeping your gf attention. So yes, you would concentrate on possibly complimenting her more or doing things that entice her.
But, if she is non-responsive to this other guy's advances, then there is no problem. It's no big deal that someone else like her; I always say, WHO WANTS SOMEBODY THAT NOBODY ELSE WANTS! As long as she's with you, you have nothing to worry about.

Lots of pitfalls here. By reacting to this guy in any way, you will be labeled as insecure duchebag.
First decide if you want to deal with a girlfriend who likes to put you in this position.
If you want to stay, just decide you have a zero tolerance policy for cheating. Let your girlfriend know this in a general way, not specific to this guy.
Then just act like the guy is of no concern to you, act like you just know that no one would ever cheat on you. Never act jealous, don't snoop or spy, but if you find cheating, make your own definition ahead of time, drop her like a hot potato and move on.

Simple. Do not use violence against your opponent as you might seem aggressive in your girl's eyes. Instead, shower your gf with affection and love and promises which you can fulfil. Sweep her away with romantic rendezvous so your opponent will not have a chance.

If your girlfriend allows him to flirt with her, stop the relationship. Dont fight with that man because he is just like you. Pretend that you're alright and don't let your girlfriend know if you're hurting becuase she will be happy. As in a song. "Dont cry out loud, just keep it inside and learn how to hide your feelings". But if the guy is forcing her into it, then its a different story.Confront him like a man. Fight if you have to protect the relationship.

Show her that you can be a better man to her than the other guy can. Always tell her how much you love her. Let her know you will always be there for her.

as long as your gf is happy with you and you treat her right you should have nothing to worry about. don't fight him just for flirting with her. that would just make you look like a meathead.
