Don't target losing more than about 2 lbs per week. If you try to lose faster, your body will go into "starvation mode" and get very stingy about burning calories while at the same time very efficient about storing any calories that you do provide. And it will make you feel awful.

The most effective way to lose fat is aerobic exercise in the "moderate" fat-burning range, ideally first thing in the morning before you eat. When you wake your body is ready to burn fat and your levels of growth hormone are highest at that time. Later in the day it can take up to 30 minutes just to put your body into a fat-burning mode.

Another overlooked way to burn fat is by lifting weights. Skeletal muscle has very high caloric needs... almost twice that of adipose (fat) tissue. Put on a little muscle and you will burn calories all day even at rest. Be aware that skeletal muscle weighs more, so with this approach you may see your weight increasing while your body fat is melting away. Not realizing this often stresses folks who think they should be losing weight as a measure of fitness. Forget the scale, look in the mirror and you will be happy.

WATCH OUT it is not that easy to lose weight so please listen carefully to what am saying as a dietitian the new line of the diet programs is called moderation you should start to write what are you eating for a week then send it to my mail and ill give you what to do with this believe me some diet programs are so wrong that ppl gain weighty more than they lose after it ends cuz it do starvation to the body so the body react by storing more fat when it is available so watch out and if you wanna start right just write to me

You might think about trying this book called "The Movie Star Diet" by Steve Simmons. It helped me lose thirty pounds in 2 1/2 months when I didn't think anything would work. My goal to begin with was only 20 lbs! It has a really easy plan to follow and an excellent workout as well.

I lost 105 pounds in 6 months. Here is how I did it.
1. Every morning get up and walk for 45 minutes. You can start with less time, but you want to get up to 45 minutes, and it must be fast walk. You want your heart rate to go up. It must be in the morning, it kick starts your metabolism.
2. I cut out Red Meat, and fatty foods. Boneless skinnless chicken breast, baked, or grilled, rice and vegetables (steamed).
3. Eat half. Just eat half of what you normally eat. Put 1/2 on your plate, and put the rest away. Cook less. When you go to fast food, get salads only. Or grilled chicken. No fries, only diet soda. Or water.

It will work, once you get into a routine, you will get hooked on the results, and you will keep the routine. It has been over a year for me.

A sight with some really cool diet calculators and interesting calorie counting calculators is here. Check it out.

Stay motivated, and get up and walk every day. I seriously lost all my weight starting off my day on my walk.

Good LUCK!

Willpower / Power of the mind.

Choosing to eat as normal as possible, but avoid unhealthy foods and sticking to three meals a day. If you have to snack in between, instead of reaching for a chocolate bar, etc. Have fruit pre-packed and a bottle of water.

Also remember to exercise. Go for something you will enjoy doing rather than just to lose weight.

All the best!

lots of fruit, veggies, not too much meat, drink skim or 1% milk, jog each morning for 30 mins, weight train for 30 mins twice a week-aim to burn 500 cals per day each week because 7 times 500 is 3500 and 3500 cals equals one pound. this way you can lose a pound a week as long as you stick to a healthy diet.
