Click on Start, Control Panel and Sounds. Select the Sounds tab. This gives you the current sounds the system is using. find the one for Windows start up then preview other sounds. when you find one you like, select it.

yes ,go to start>control panel>sounds>sound tab and scroll down the list until tou find start up,then next to it you will see a browse button,use this and navigate to the file containing the sounds you want to replace the windows standard sounds
be aware though,you can only use .wav format sounds so you should have a look on the net as there are a few sites with customized sounds to download
also if you look in some games and go into the actual program files,look in the audio file of the game and you may find some .wav files which you can use,and if you want to use mp3 files there are some converters avalible so you can convert the sounds to use

yes, goto your control panel and open sounds
in the various tabs you can browse for the sounds that played for various windows actions. pick strartup and change it!!!!!
