in that meeting it was stated that more troops were Not needed
then they said yes more american troops were needed for training the Iraqi army...doubled
does this mean we are in a stalemate and we only have two ways to go.....#1 either draft our own ppl or theirs........or.......cut and run?
please leave out the party slant

btw when Sen. John McCain asked "How can we spare more men on the ground to go into training the Iraqi's when they just had a kidnapping of 150 plus ppl in broad open daylight?" The general just said that would be solved as a long term effect of better training of the Iraqi's

The real problem with winning the war in Iraq is the media and the American people... The United States government has to be so politically correct in everything they do, that you can't fight a real war... In WWII we bombed the living s**t out of every country we invaded or liberated... We blew up Church's, houses, orphanages, hospitals you name it was destroyed... the objective of war is to destroy the enemy so bad that he gives up... Why do you think Japan surrendered after we dropped the 2 a-bombs...because we destroyed 2 whole cities and were willing to destroy more... Japan knew they couldn't afford anymore battles like that so they quit... But now adays if you accidentally blow up a school, the media is all over it and the American public goes in an outrage...That's the main reason we have smart bombs today, to try and reduce the civilian casualties... But it's hard to fight an enemy that places his armor next to or on top of a school building... The politics of this war are no different than what was in Vietnam... During Vietnam the American public learned how brutal war was by watching it first hand on TV... That's when they couldn't handle the fact that women and children die in war... So they all sat around protesting and calling the soldiers baby killers... The hard truth is that America will never win another war in any country, because the American people can't handle the fact of what war is really about...

Come into the truth of the reward. The Republicans are announcing the equal factor. Here's why: No subject whilst or how we go away Iraq, there will likely be chaos. This is a devout civil warfare. The hassle is who helps the "proper" or respectable inheritor to Mohammad. This argument, and the violence because of it, is now greater than 1300 years historic. This is the hassle among the Sunni and Shiite factions. Why do you believe they're blowing up each and every different mosques? It is extra intricate by means of help from the Saudis for one sect and Iran for the opposite, thereby splitting the Mideast. The best way to this chaos is a everlasting presence in Iraq, that is why a strongly confident document is a situation. The Democrats and now Republicans who say we will have to instantly withdraw are naive. An on the spot withdrawal will take approximately two years. One factor Obama mentioned which I trust is that even as the Iraqi parliament is on excursion due to the fact it is too sizzling in Baghdad, our squaddies are patrolling even as wearing one hundred lbs. of apparatus. I ought to emphasize to you that practically no person besides McCain helps this warfare. Even the President admits the invasion used to be founded on dangerous intelligence. When you throw across the phrase "treasonous", you're accusing approximately 70+ % of the American residents, nearly all of the Congress on either side and lots of distinguished navy leaders who've been in Iraq. How will we "win" this warfare? Didn't we win after we deposed Saddam and destroyed the guns he had? What is victory? If it is a steady, peaceable Iraq--how do you calm the devout hatred? How do you conquer 1300 years of devout strife. Google Shiite and Sunni and spot what the truly situation is. We've already gained this warfare. Now will have to we transfer directly to Northern Ireland? It's the equal hassle, simply with Christians.

The War in Iraq is not a war in itself, this any goal that is focused to and limited to Iraq will not be successful. It is a War on Terror, which is far more difficult. Thus the limited goal of Iraq can only lead to success of the war IF it is developed into a viable islamic democracy. By doing so America can show that the west is not the great satan. It is harder for extremists to recruits when people can see that their enemies are not pure evil.

Thus, that is how we win in Iraq - by staying long enough that Iraq can stand on its own. That is exactly why a timetable for pullout is unwise; reality isn't so nice and neat.

I think the biggest problem is the Iraqi people's religious divisions. The random bombings and executions of Sunni and Shi'ite put troops in the middle of a civil war. We aren't killing all those civilians; Iraqis are. The current government is weak and ineffective - they can't do a damn thing to stop this.

The primary answer that you will not see from any politician is the Muslims themselves. The different "tribes", meaning Sunni, Shiite, etc. don't like each other but dislike non Muslims more. Countries like Syria and Iran do not want Iraq to have a Democratic government like we do, they want to have their religious leaders to control Iraq, like they do in their countries. So the religious leaders in Syria, Iran, etc send people into Iraq to stir up trouble. Until the Iraq government can get their own government stabilized and their army up to being able to defend their borders and keep out the outside trouble makers (also know as terrorist), our forces will need to stay there.

If we just give up and leave, that will tell the terrorists around the world that we are afraid of them and they will come here and do something like they did on September 11. I don't know about you, but I'd rather get them and their leaders in their country instead of ours.

Iran, Syria, and a failure by war opponents to recognize the nature of islam, and its ultimate goal of world domination. Only when we realize that eventually (now, or 20 years from now)we will have to go to war with the entire islamic world, or submit to it, will we decide that we should fight them all out before Iran gets their nuke and consolidates the islamic world into a near superpower caliphate. And by then Europe will be infested at the highest levels, and will more likely fight against us, not with us. We need to stop worrying about "collateral damage" and fight like we did in WW2, civilian casualties and all.
We don't need a draft to do this, we have the hardware and professional soldiers to do it with the military we have now, we just need politicians to get out of the way.

The reason is because we are the only ones that are wearing uniforms. It is difficult to know who the enemy combatants are and how to stop them. Also there is a language barrier. There are numerous reasons that this new type of "urban warfare" is much harder to win then conventional war. Plus there are so many factions it is difficult to know who believes what, and where, and such.

the reason we are not winning the war is because George Bush is Saudi Arabia's assassin.as long as were at war with Iraq we will be buying more oil from them instead of the 865000 barrels a day we were buying from Iraq.this is the same reason why you always hear Bush pushing for a war against Iran and Syria.but all you hear about North Korea is we need to solve this diplomatically.this is because there would be no financial gain to the Saudis if we went to war with them.this is also the same reason why they let Afghanistan out of hand when it was under control.check out my theory anywhere.its the only way this all makes sense.

Our problem in Iraq is that we're trying to fight a politically correct war, not trying to offend anyone. If we just would have gone in, worked from the center out, and then secured the borders, we wouldn't have half the problems we have now.

We do not have a clear objective and a clear enemy to fight. We are no longer fighting a war against an organized enemy - were are caught in the middle of a civil war between warring factions. We're tying to act like a referee in the middle of a war. Historically, there is no way to "win" in that situation.
