I personally don't do that. I have friends who eat dessert before a main meal and I don't know how they stomach doing that. I don't know if the French do that or not.

because, because the former persons would say, cakes really make you lose your urge for nutrients for a competent meal. that is the reason cakes are frequently served on the great of a meal. Appetizers, on the different hand, is self-explanatory. It tickles your palate you'll want to eat proper now.

Recently my friend, her 13 year old daughter, my 13 year old niece, and myself spent the weekend in Seattle on a " girls weekend". One night for "dinner" we went to the store and bought a plain New York style cheesecake, strawberries, chocolate sauce, caramel, whipped cream, nuts, etc, and had an all-you-can-eat cheesecake buffet for dinner! Then later in the evening we went out for pizza for our "dessert". Needless to say, the cheesecake dinner was definitely one of the weekend highlights for the girls!

They do not eat "dessert"----they have sorbet after the first/second courses right before the main course to "cleanse" the palate

No because if you do that then you wont want to eat the main dish and your going to want more an more and your not going to eat the main dish at all.

I had a yogurt before my sandwich yesterday lunchtime. I'm not sure this counts.
