It means that it needs to be changed. Happened to mine

Usually the sound does make some sound.

However if the sound is way too loud than normally...it probably means that your PSU power is low.

the motor's bearing could be going bad, or it might just be a cheap fan that was not the high-quality, built-to-last type

They get old and worn out or it might have worked itself loose. Try tightening it down again or you can replace them.
