As far as kissing them goes, I kiss my dog all the time on the head. It shows her affection and that she's loved! Dogs really aren't hard to train if you just stick with it and you can train them yourself, if you have the knowledge to do it right. They don't come trained because they were originally wild animals. Humans don't even come trained, why would a dog???
I have to agree about the clothes thing though! The only clothing I can understand is a raincoat and boots to keep the dog dry and clean during walks in bad weather. I don't get sweaters and stuff just to look cute! Just my opinion though..

I kiss all of my dogs. They don't understand what kissing is and you certainly wouldn't kiss a dog the same as a human. They do understand affection. If you got a dog already trained what fun would that be? Training a dog creates bonding for you both. I feel pride in my dogs when the act appropriately around others. However, I don't understand dressing a dog. It is okay for kids to do it but, seems a little silly of an adult.

I kiss my cat and dog too. I just feel like it, because this is how we humans express our affection. They kiss us back, by licking us. Riders kiss their horses always. It is normal.
Training is the way a human and a dog learn how to co-exist. They are animals, they can't come trained. even humans don't come trained. In fact, you train your child much more than any dog, so it is absurd to think that a dog will train itself to be as you want it.
Buying clothes is a bit far-fetched, but some breeds of dogs need them when it is very cold. I agree that halloween costumes and some luxurious stuff are farfetched, because the same money could be spent to save strays or children, etc.

People kiss their dogs because they love them. It's called showing affection.
Dogs don't come trained for the same reason babies don't come trained. It's called life. We all have to start somewhere. Dogs, like children are not hard to train. It just takes alot of effort combined with patience and love.
I don't know why people put clothing on their dogs. They think it's cute I guess.

In the past I never kissed my dogs that I owned - they were bigger dogs. Now I have a 5 pound chihuahua - and I kiss her all of the time. I absolutely adore this dog!!!!!!! She is the most loving dog I have ever owned (she is not real friendly to strangers - but completely loves the people that she knows - although she is very protective of my husband and I). She is a very obedient dog - she loves to please us - and she is the smartest dog I have ever had. As far as dressing her - yes we dress her when she goes outside (sweaters and t-shirts - depends on the weather). She gets cold very easily - and needs the extra clothing for warmth.

First off, I do buy clothes for my dog. I have a Chihuahua, that travels with us, so he does has alot of sweaters. The weather changes alot from place to place. And, when it comes to kissing my dog, I do that also. I love my dog. If you love your dog, then you will show it affection showing how special it is. You have to understand that not everyone loves there dogs in the same way.

People tend to baby their pets. People are willing to spend big $ on their pets because of the unconditional love pets give them.
Kisses and clothing...specialty treats, dog foods, training, so on...there is money being spent and money being made too.
The pet industry is the 3rd largest industry in the US because people love their pets!
Everyone (normal) who answers your question will tell you why they love their pet.

I have a yellow lab and she is very affectionate. She loves attention. We kiss her on the head all the time and we also cuddle her. It shows her that she is a part of our family. She does, however, get a tad jealous when we pet our cats.

Many, many many, years ago the wolf was taken out of his natural habitat by man just to make mans life easier, they were bred and trained to guard man, then bred and trained to guard mans property, then bred and trained to hunt for mans food, then were bred and trained to pull the heavy loads of man, then bred and trained to do all kinds of things for man, man started the vicious cycle that animals find themselves in today, is it not mans place to provide, protect and yes train these animals to survive in mans world as we know it today? yes I kiss my dog.
I consider my dog as one of my close family members, no I do not dress him up, but I will go to any length to make sure he is healthy, happy and well adjusted to the world WE as man created for him.

Dogs don't understand kissing on the head, you might as well kiss the bottom of their feet as far as they're concerned.
