believe it or not but most GSD's love water!!! ours "attacks" the sprinkler all the time and will go in the kids pool. I took him to the lake once and I have never seen anything like it, he was bouncing up and down in the water, jumping off the pier, and that was his first time in the lake.

I have two GSDs and they actually like being outside in the rain.

They're indoor dogs and, believe it or not, they always ask me to go out when it's raining. Only if it's a total down-pour will they not want to play in the rain.

German Shepherd Dogs have a double coat, the top coat (the guard hairs) which repels water and the undercoat which insulates and keeps them warm even on a cold and rainy day.

Even more than rain, they love the snow and they're a riot diving into snowbanks and rolling around getting covered in white.

Your dog knows when he's confortable and when he's not. He'll go into his house if he's really getting wet or cold.

If you feel bad that he's not using his doghouse, bring him in to play with you in your house. He'll love the attention even more than the rain I'm sure.

Does he go in the house at all? If he does, then he just doesn't mind the rain. If he never goes in the house, perhaps he is afraid of it and doesn't think it is his den.
My german shepherd does the same. he rarely goes into his house. He gets me so worried sometimes that finally I just let him in my house. But the trainer says he just isn't cold, he's not dumb, he'd use the house if he needed it.

Proabably wants inside. Come on you leave him standing out in the rain. Get an old towel dry him off an bring him in the house.

He probably likes the rain. I wouldn't worry about it. If he gets cold or wants to be dry, he'll go inside.

it all depends on he was raised in the house or not ,if not he has learned to adapt to his environment and the dog house might be too small for him or something has scared him out of it like a wasp or bee.
