ayingerweisse - The acceptance of Gays in the military is not a matter "discrimination" but a matter of safety.

Instead of assuming, why don't you look up the news articles about gays being beat and threatened in the military?

To allow gays to openly join, you lower the morale and combat effectiveness of the unit. A lot of men hate gays. Some are scared of them, some are fine with them. In the end, it is the gays that will suffer.

Then where will we be? If we allow it, it will only hinder our service, it does not matter how it's handled.

They want to take out ROTC because of the military connection, but are ready to teach alternative life styles, such as homosexuality. go figure!! If it wasn't for the military and their sacrifice for over 235 years, they wouldn't have those freedoms of changing and voicing their opinions. In some countries, they would be taken out and shot for thinking or saying what they do.

California needs more conservatives and less liberals. I say, put a fence up along their border and seal them off from the rest of the nation.

No what they hate is people telling them they can't be who they are. Which is exactly what the military's policy does. It says you can't openly be or say that you are gay. If they would allow that, then gays would have no problem with the military.
The military is, in effect, discriminating against them. So as long as they are discriminating the local government is saying you can't be here and openly discriminate.
Now would there be a problem in the military if men were allowed to be openly gay? I don't know, maybe it would and maybe it wouldn't. If the military has proof that it would in fact cause problems, then lets see the proof. So far all they have said is that they can imagine that it might. That's not enough to discriminate against someone.
So the problem is not that gays hate the military. It's that they hate that the military discriminates against them. They would have no problem with young people wanting to join the military, if the military would just stop discriminating.

It was in San Fran. That should be the city of brotherly love. Its the homos that hate the military. This is the product of all the hippies from the 70's that hated the military back then.

well, it is california after all, with the worst education ideas in the world. I guess that it is a way to try to change the policy of the army, and is legal, and the army must find a way to get around it, or conform to the laws of the state they recruit in.

Thats California for you, you know Berkley and such, home of the "peace" movement. Haight Ashbury peaceniks, and hippies. That state can sink in the ocean for all I care.

The ironic thing is that they are discriminating themselves. If the homosexual lifestyle is accepted by them - shouldn't they have equal acceptance of those who choose not to associate with that lifestyle?

Not true. If a student is not ready to finish High school, they are not ready to join the armed services either.
