Hello,

I am 25 yrs old female, and i wet bet in nights unconsciously, is there any easy solution to get rid of this???

I have not gone through any diagnosis. As i feel shy.

Once i went to a doctor, but there she gave me some antibiotics.

But i did not found any solution.

I don't get any bad or horrible dreams too. But sometimes i observe that, when i am very depressed, i wet my bed in nights. but if i sleep for some 5hrs continuosly in day time, i never do this. This happens with me in only night times. I have this problem since from my childhood.

Please tell me any good solution. I don't want to go to doctor. I am a software Engineer.

Thank you

Unfortuantely I don't think there are any EASY solutions. I'm 29 years old, male, and have basically the same problem. In childhood, until I was about 12 years old, I used to do this every night. Since then it only happens occasionally, but still often enough to be really frustrating. Like you, I never do it in the daytime even if I sleep for several hours at a time, and I also notice that it is more likely to happen on nights when I am very tired, depressed, or under stress.

Since this has happened all your life, you probably don't have any serious medical problems taht will be a threat to your long-term health. I have been tested for about everything imaginable and there is nothing seriously wrong with me. Basically, I'm told it happens because my urinary bladder is smaller than normal for an adult, and because I sometimes sleep too soundly to know when my bladder is full and wake up to use the toilet -- especially when I am really tired or stressed.

I don't know what else to suggest to you except to hang in there -- this happens to a lot more young adults than you would think! If I'm traveling and need to be very careful not to wet the bed on a particular night, I've found that by setting an alarm clock for 2 hours after I go to sleep, and getting up to urinate at that point whether my bladder feels full or not, I can make sure that I don't wet the bed on that particular night. I don't do this every night, though, because it interrupts my sleep too much, but that can at least keep it from happening in a place where it would be really embarrassing.

I hope this is helpful. If you would like to talk more, please feel free to write to me using the e-mail address in my profile, and I would be happy to share more of my experiences with you.

If this was of recent onset a urinary tract infection would be a consideration. Since this has been present since childhood, the diagnosis is enuresis - which is caused by the deficiency of a specific hormone. The problem is easily treated with either DDAVP or a medication in the family of imipramine. The latter is quite effective and very inexpensive - about $12 per month.

get an alarm clock set it at a time in the night and wake up go and use the rest rom even if you dont feel like it.
Or urinate before going to sleep. And dont have heavy fluids 2 hrs before bedtime . i also had the same problem. better than going to the docs and spending money. now i am okay. ALL THE BEST!!

(1) Don't drink water after 6:00 pm.
(2) Go to the toilet before going to bed.
(3) Ask any senior member of your family to wake up you in the middle of the night to void urine or set up an alarm clock.
(4) urinalysis and urine culture may be done.
(5) Caffeinated beverages should be strictly limited.
Please see the webpages for more details on Enuresis.

Well, some of the obvious things to try on your own include limiting your liquid intake several hours before you go to bed, this will help keep your bladder from filling so much at night. Also, make sure you empty your bladder before you go to bed. And to keep the mess down in your bed, you can wear adult dipers to bed. When you go to buy them, just say they are for your grandparents.

Being a real person is humbling. We all have something not quite right with us!!! Certainly me too..........

Talk to a trusted friend about a doctor that might help. Sorry, I know you didn't want to go there. :-( A good physical is critical.

How is the rest of your life? Are you sharing yourself with a trusted other? We are psych-social human beings; each aspect of ourself influences all the others.

Don't be too down on yourself! Hang in there........

I would seek an opinion of an Urologist.
I note you don't want to see a Doctor.
However, it may be a good idea so you can resolve this and/or your situation does not get worse.
Please make an appointment!
Good luck!

It's been many years since this happened to me. When it did happen, I remember telling myself, before going to sleep, if I ever have a dream, where I'm going to the bathroom, to wake myself up. Since then, I wake up whenever I have to go. Maybe it's like programming. Hope this helps.

Before going to bed be sure to go to toilet. Have a note book with a red and black inked pens. In the morning if you find yourself in bed wetting condition then in the note book make a red cross with date. If do not find so, then make a tick with the black pen with date. Do it without fail.
At night if you feel pressure please go to toilet
