I think we will recognise people who we knew on Earth but I dont think we will have the emotional attachment that we had on Earth. We will certainly not be married. The Bible says that there will be no marrying and giving in marriage. We will be too buzy praising God.

I don't know if I agree so much that Heaven exists. Being a Philosophy & Divinity Student kind of drives it out of you. I certainly diaagree with your idea of only people who are saved. I think personally you don't need faith, just be a good person. (I know that creates more questions thatn it answers, but I disagree strongly with the notion of faith, I personally believe it is corrupt, because it's a human creation)
My personal belief is that if there is an afterlife, you are a form of your self... Kinda like the Platonic idea of mind-body dualism, whereby the soul can be removed from the body, & thats what gets to Heaven. Considering it has no form, you will recognise people in the way your soul see's them, because you yourself will form them into a recognisable shape. For example, you see a school firend, you 'see' them as a 10yr old child. Their grand-daughter however would 'see' them as a 90yr old.
Oh, & on a final note, I think you will meet up in Heaven.
Watch the Robin Williams film "What Dreams May Come". It'll give you at least one perspective of the afterlife.

Sarah, it's sweet that you want to see lots of other people in heaven but dangling the carrot of heaven before them won't do any good - it may do a lot of harm. Just consider some of the answers so far!
There's the "I'm basically a good person" contingent who think God can be humoured with doing good to others. They must reckon he's some sort of Divine Accountant who will let them in if they do more good than bad. There's the "stop prosyletising on this site" group who are rightly annoyed at unsubtle attempts to put over a partisan view (but atheists and New Agers and a whole lot of others do just that with their pet theories too! It's par for the course on Yahoo - if you don't like it, don't use the site.)
Giving one's life to Christ involves signing one's own death warrant - literally. That has to be done before any blessings come. We first have to forsake all others to follow Christ, no matter what persecution comes, even if we have to die, and more Christians are being persecuted these last 50 odd years than in any other century. Unless Christ is our living Lord, with us day by day, we'll never last the course. So belief in his death, resurrection, and that he's alive in heaven now, interceeding on our behalf, is vital. Visions of the glory of heaven help, but nobody can become a Christian just because they fancy the idea of being there. How about asking a Q on HOW you can give your life to Christ?

I would like to think so yes. It is a matter of personal belief but lots of people look forward to that. There are too many tales of people dying who deleriously call out to loved ones who have passed away before them. This is something my mother has seen a lot as she works in an elderly nursing home. A lot of older people are comforted by this idea too. So whatever anybody says it is my personal belief that yes I will see my loved ones once I die.

Are religions so desperate for new members to strenghten their raplidly depleating numbers that they have to carry out some twisted recruitment drive online these days?
Science continually disproves religious theory after religious theory but if people still want to believe that there is some bearded guy living on a cloud, go ahead. However, please do so in your own time and behind closed doors, so as not to offend the rest of us.

I'm being reincarnated, so the answer is a resounding NO! Anyway, where's the fun in a heaven full of 'saved' Christians... sounds like hard work to me and I wouldn't want to go there.

I know that I'm saved, not because of my "good works", but because I have repented to God, and have believed on the Lord Jesus Christ, that he died for our sins. And when I did that, I received the Holy Spirit, that's how I know. 1 John 5:13 says,
"These things have I written unto you that believe on the name of the Son of God; that ye may know that ye have eternal life, and that ye may believe on the name of the Son of God."
Praise the Lord!

Yes, you will know your dear ones in the next world and you will recognize them. Husband and wife will be reunited to eternity, not as two physical bodies but as one soul. All bodies will return to earth, only the souls return to God; and souls have no gender.
In fact, we are not possessors of our lives, but God is the Possessor; so the more we realize this truth, the more we are happy to give our lives back to Him.

In the story that Jesus told about the rich man and Lazarus, the rich man knew who Lazarus was, so I guess that we will recognise those that we knew on earth
And for those who have complained about the religious content of the question, YOU'RE IN THE RELIGION AND SPIRITUALITY SECTION FOR GOODNESS' SAKE!

I have given my life to the Lord. We will recognize each other in Heaven. I think we will know everyone there.
