The only reward for leading a good life is - a good life. As for reincarnation - people who lead good lives, according to Hindu mythology, don't come back as lesser creatures. They come back as higher-caste humans until they earn entrance into Nirvana. What's Nirvana? Look it up.

Well one of the main reasons Hindu's worship a cow is because it provides milk. It can be used as a serigate mother. Hence why it is so special.

Actually while cows are considered 'sacred' they are not exactly worshipped - they are given veneration as one would venerate the elderly or someone who had been a hero in war in western culture. The reasons are because of the role played by a mythical figure who was the ancestor of all cattle in their religious scripture.

You have a point - As an atheist, I often hear people defending Buddhism by saying it is not like other religions and does not promote violence or other nastiness. But they do teach that people who are disabled or have bad luck in this life deserve it because they must have done something bad in a past life, which is pretty nasty thinking in MHO!

Why don't you go and do some reading and maybe you'll find out why! I bet they think your pretty "bonkers" too.

You should respect their beliefs even if you don't follow them.

isn't that a hindu teaching? yeah, i don't get the logic either.

lol! it really doesn't matter if you don't respect anyone or whatever since no one expects you to know the meaning of the word to begin with.
