Is there anyone out there that knows what I can do OTHER than taking Tylenol 3? They don't help. I have always had migraines and now I can't manage them. I've tried a jet-bathtub, warm showers, massagers, naps - even Gatorade (my husband read that was a cure).

The only danger is when your headache may be a sign of something else. You should ALWAYS call your health care provider when:

1-Your headache is accompanied by a fever
2-Your headache persists for more than a few hours or returns frequently
3-You are experiencing blurred vision

It is ALWAYS important to let your health care provider know when you are experiencing any headaches and the details about them.

Keep a headache diary: This diary should include when the headache happened, what “triggered” it, and how long it lasted. If you keep a log of your headaches, you can learn what triggers them and therefore avoid those things. Common triggers may include but are not limited to:
Stress
Chocolate
Cheese
Coffee
Weather
Hormones

Triggers are different for everyone; that is why it is important for you to keep a headache diary.

Common home remedies for migraine headaches include:
Apply a cold towel on your head
Take a cold shower
Take a nap
Exercise
Biofeedback (ask your doctor)
Relaxation techniques such as meditation or yoga

Medications for Migraine relief: Most health care providers consider acetaminophen to be the pain relief medication of choice during pregnancy but you should always talk with your own personal health care provider before taking any medicaiton. Pregnant women should NOT take anything with aspirin unless prescribed by a health care provider. Consult with your health care provider about the best form of pain relief for your migraines.

I wish you the best

Try this, but no guarantees for longstanding migraines.

Use your fingers on the back of your neck on both sides where the tendons rise up. Start low, below the shoulders on both sides of the spine, as low as you can reach and press firmly down on a spot on each side about 1 and 1/2 inch out from the spine. After a minute, move up about 2 or 3 inches and do it again. Work all the way up across your head to your forehead, Then go down the sides of your forehead, face, cheekbones, jawbones, and just under the jawbones. Go behind the ears and massage below and behind there. Put pressure on your face where your sinuses are. Feel around and gently press to find the relief spots. Sometimes migraines are caused by sinus problems or a bad root in a tooth nerve that runs up your face or down your jaw. Often pressure in the right spot can stop it, at least for a little while. Other things that might help are hot and cold packs, and a good "C" shaped neck pillow. Lay on your back with no other pillow. Good Luck!

Gatorade isn't a cure for migraines, but it can help some people if they are dehydrated and that was the cause of the migraine.

Call your doctor and explain that nothing seems to be working. (S)He should have some ideas.

I'm not pregnant, but I have found a couple of the following to be helpful for my migraines. Drinking water (I tend to get them when dehydrated). Don't drink it too fast -- and NOT ice cold water. Warm compresses and on the back of my neck. Take a break from the computer and reading if you can. Staying in a cool dark room helps. Drinking a cup of warm tea.

Good luck!

I have extremely bad headaches and one of the tricks I learned is take a sock and put two tennis balls in it. Tie a knot snug against the balls. Lie on the floor and put the sock under your neck so that there is tennis ball on each side of your spine and it is butted up against the base of your neck. Lay back on the balls.

This triggers a pressure point and can help get rid of some headaches and usually at least helps others some. Lay on the balls for as long as you need.

Hope this helps.

Call your OB for suggestions. I also get migraines, and I could not imagine not being able to take anything. Plus mine are hormone related.

Did you try an ice pack on your forehead - or a warm washcloth on the back of your neck. What about a neck and upper back massage. What about a chiropracter?

Hope you feel better!

Headache is a pain in the head, scalp or neck. Headaches can be
caused by minor problems like eyestrain, lack of coffee or more
serious reasons like head injury, brain tumors, encephalitis and
meningitis. Taking painkillers continuously can have harmful side
effects, so it is better to modify your lifestyle. More information

If the doctor doesn't help, go to an herb and ask them what to take, but if they are not sure, I have a book on natural remedies and if you email me I would be glad to look it up for you. It might take me 24 hours to get the answer back to you, but I would be glad to help. Email me @ mbbaker55@yahoo.com

Yes you can ! you just ask ANY OB doctor out there ,and they will tell you you can safely take regular Tylenol. If Tylenol doesn't work then go back to your OB doctor and let him or her know your symptoms.Maybe they might order an ultra sound to see if the baby is o.k.
I hope you feel better. and God Bless You !

I used to get migranes too. My suggestion isn't easy but it worked for me. Drink as little caffine as possible. Also, Herbal teas help (decaf obviously). I suggest peppermint tea just as you feel it coming on. It won't cure the pain, but it can take the edge off.
